not thrilled about the prospect of wfhing 100% while energy prices lift off into the stratosphere. if only there was political organisation who could raise this potentially quite pressing issue for workers w/the government

Fucksticks I'm going to get transferred to fucking E.eon again aren't I
The only good thing from this is that those cunts at the People's Energy Co have been chucked under a bus

Me too.... I think we just gave each other £50 as well!
I hope that Bulb stay afloat for a couple of weeks for the switch to happen... That would be annoying...

Octopus is owned by Octopus Group which is a fund management company with over £9 billion of assets under management as of 2019, so they've got deep pockets.
Practically if you want some of your balance back just email them.

Seeing as I bumped the thread and referred @dbr who has now overtaken me in referrals I'm going to post this again for the new page!

Well it depends how much truth there is in the rumour that they're going bust. If that was maliciously started (or just ill-informed) then propagating it may well be the thing that drives them under through no fault of their own.
I linked the FT article, there are plenty of others:
https://news.google.com/search?q=bulb%20energy&hl=en-GB&gl=GB&ceid=GB%3AenThey are saying themselves they're at risk of going bust. I went with Octopus in April because Bulb seemed a bit iffy even then and having just had one go bust on me I didn't want another.

That’s somewhat reassuring but I can’t imagine the parent fund group’s investors will have infinite patience for bailouts. Will keep an eye on it.

Maybe - if you were going on a land grab for customers you might like the situation where 90% of your competitors were put out of business by an event that you could ride...
-
• #110
Yep exactly, it's like Ryanair and the pandemic. They're the biggest airline in Europe and they had the deepest pockets, so they watched competitors go out of business and snapped up the ones they wanted when they did during the pandemic.
I'm fairly sure that the current Octopus media offensive will be about getting the brand out there so they can pinch customers from others then ride it out.
The business will be worth a lot more if most of their competitors go under.
-
• #111
That article is a fair way from saying they're likely to go bust though.

Quite impressed with you lot being so on top of your energy bills. We're with Bulb. Doesn't really feel like I need to do anything. Whats the worst that could happen? My credit or debit balance is transferred to another supplier who i can immediately switch from if I want to?

E.ON has big stakes in three nuclear power stations and a stake in a coal-fired plant in Turkey.
So don't apologise to me, apologise to your children (who will be worse off because you didn't take the free money from Octopus!).

Octopus group have one of the largest inheritance tax dodging schemes in the world. If @amey is loaded, his kids will be very pleased if he becomes a customer of Octopus Group.

Believe it or not that wasn't a serious reply...
Quite interesting re: Octopus Group but it's a fund management company - are any really better?

Got to say, this energy shock is a nice break from being an online epidemiologist and supply chain expert
-

now that user amey has quelled his energy supply anxiety, this will free up more headspace for
shitposting. win win -
• #120
plus if anyone wants to switch to EON use my referral link ;) both get 50 quid
4.5p/kwh 12 months fixed is what I went with.

• #121
Sorry, I was also being tongue in cheek.
I know of one decent fund management company, but they have only existed for two years, are tiny (~$30m) , and I have no doubt will be as rancid as the rest of them in a few years!

I'm on Igloo which seems significantly cheaper than Octopus based on the Octopi quote me thingy
Igloo aren't taking any new customers on though, so that's my £50 referral code useless

Slightly off topic but still on the price of gas. It seem the taxpayer has written a blank cheque to CF to start fertiliser production and hence carbon dioxide.

I imagine the delay was so that some of The Favoured could manoeuvre their way into a cash receiving position.
LFGSS is singlehandedly crushing Bulb and Octopus at the same time.
