  • friends of mine just comleted the odra-nisa bike path without e-bike-assistance and they did 60-85km per day with loaded bikes. none of them is a touring rider, they're all in office jobs afaik. they said it was manageable, but more km per day would be too much. the 110 km in one ride seems a little too ambitious. maybe split in two days riding?

  • Thanks, basically what I thought.
60 would maybe be ok, but 110 with luggage would probably kill all future touring plans.

But I found a Trainline thats not on Strike and only adds a few kilometres, so that's the plan.

  • I picked up a second hand 2014 Giant TCX Cyclocross a few years ago to leave at my parents to save me lugging a bike down to theres every time i visit. Ive enjoyed riding it around but the relatively hilly geography and the high gearing has put this out of the question.

Be interested to hear what the easiest options are for me to provide lower gearing without upsetting other parts? Theres obviously changing the chainrings and the cassettes but interested in whats likely to be easiest particularly for someone not particularly apt when it comes to derailleur adjustment and also keen to hear about any things to avoid given the current parts. Presuming its got factory spec although cant be sure as its in my parents attic and they arent athletic enough to get up there.

    Standard spec

    Bike in its current state

On a good day, you can usually get that RD to manage an 11-32 cassette, which gets you to a total of 17% lower bottom gear if you also change the inner ring to a 34. You'll need to get a new, longer, chain but you were going to replace the chain anyway to avoid running old chain on new sprockets.

You'll also be pretty close to the point where your gain ratio drops below 2 and you might as well walk.

  • Thanks, very much appreciated

  • Is there a thread for kid carrier bikes? Search is failing me

  • Matt (or shiny) black mudguard bridge for sks blumels (45mm) where can I find one?

  • What is the site that sells display/sample/last year frames - I think from ison distro? I’m after an xs frameset and remember seeing small frames on it. Thanks!

Or the demo genesis bikes get sold through Freewheel.

  • Thank you so much!

  • If I wanted to build a website where customers could add things to a basket and receive a quote once I'd reviewed, what would be a low cost (single small outlay rather than subscription) easy platform to use? I've built lots of sites with WordPress but wonder if there's a free e-commerce option that would be easier to set up. I know shopify is 20 a month or something plus a percentage of sales. Presuming I can get around the sales fee by not being transactional i.e. no payment, just me sending a quote.

Basically want to rent out some equipment and would like it listed somewhere people could add it to a basket to request a quote.

So I presume the site would link to some kind of database and or quoting software. Maybe a form submission function to add insurance information and set up new accounts. Also potentially link to a calender for availability so people could add dates required to their request. I've seen https://www.circulio.com/ but suspect spendy and this is as much a vanity project as a practical one at this stage so looking to start slowly.

  • Why is my Photoshop displaying this weird shit since the last update (22.5.0, on Catalina 10.15.7) ?

  • I saw someone out on a gravel bike today. Brown. Blue grips. The brand was something like NATT or FRANK. Looked nice.

Mildly curious as to the brand

  • Taking some cues from Apple Photos?

  • Not sure if you sorted this but there's some DT Swiss "eMTB" ones with descriptive model names like the H552

  • Ah great, thanks.
For anyone else looking similarly I also found this big boy at 46mm ID

  • Oh, I'd hate it if my Photoshop suddenly started displaying weird campervans, too.

  • Hey folks,

Can someone please tell me if this is really a Stumpjumper?

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174917120142?hash=item28b9df708e:g:ApkAAOSwEqhhLjaC

    Thanks a lot!

  • I'd say unlikely, certainly not 1991 vintage as claimed. Rear brake routing is wrong (has a little noodle route round the seat tube rather than stop > outer cable run > stop on bridge between seat stays). Decals are in the wrong place to be original too.

  • @farewell & @jellybaby new stereo fitted and all working as it should including a proper hands free mic - many thanks for the advice.

  • using gmail here. I delete a lot of emails unread (ebay adverts say) and even when the trash folder is emptied, if I search for "ebay" these unread emails appear

why dont they get properly deleted?

  • Don't 'deleted' emails remain in Trash for 30 days, in default settings?

  • Thanks, I thought so.

Looks like it could be a rockhopper, with the seat-clamp design.
