  • šŸ‘ Looks identical to my Rockhopper

  • They do, but Trash is empty, and some of these are +30 days

  • Did you delete them or ā€˜archiveā€™ them

Gmail I think by default just removes the inbox label. Could be youā€™ve got the desktop config set to delete and the mobile set to archive

  • Yes, that seems to be it, using via mobile is archiving. Thanks!

  • Is this kind of wear on a shimano bb axle a problem?

  • Most days I go for a ride with my partner and sometimes I notice a slight difference in our Strava data, but last week due to a knee problem I only rode with her and did no other riding and neither did she. Strava showed she rode about seven miles more than me. We both have an old iphone 5 and were together for all of the rides, what's going on?

  • what's going on?

You're worrying about numbers instead of just enjoying the company

  • Not really, just curious.

Anyway she's always the local legend haha

  • She might have popped out 3.5 miles in the night when you were asleep to see a friendā€”canā€™t tell without more fine-grained snooping^W data

  • I've bought some video equipment here in the past: https://hprestonmedia.co.uk/

I visited the site yesterday and there appears to be loads of weird shit on there like cheap earrings and patio furniture. Have they been hacked or just trying to sell any old shit in a new pandembrexit world? Basically does it seem a safe place to buy something?

Edit: will pass - lots of bad reviews since April on trustpilot. Shame.

  • I think itā€™s good for a few more miles.

Are you both using the Strava ios app? Try experimenting with another activity tracker. Is you iPhone running with the low power option on? It might reduce the number of GPS tracks logged?

  • This is what happens when the weather get the better of the bearings and they seize up. By some weird quirk of physics the nylon bearing cup wears away the steel axle. Trouble is that itā€™s barely detectable whilst riding so can go on for a long time before itā€™s noticed. By then the axle is stepped (Fu**ed) and itā€™s that clunking that grabs your attention.

  • By some weird quirk of physics the nylon bearing cup wears away the steel axle

Ooh, Tester explained this recently. Iirc the softer material picks up fine particles and gradually abrades the harder one, bit like sandpaper ;).. or something like that

  • Thanks for this. Iā€™ve just bought these cranks second hand, so Iā€™m wondering if this is cosmetic or something warranting a return.

Will this cause premature wear to new bearings and clunk when rotating?

  • If you can feel the abrasions or depressions in the surface then yeah, return them.

  • I need to replace the freewheel on my girlfriends single speed bike...It's one of those generic fashion fixies, and as such should have the generic rear wheel.

Can someone remind me if the freewheel should be 3/32 or 1/8?

  • Match it to whatever chainring/chain is already on there?
3/32 will work with both chain sizes but be a bit noisy on a 1/8

  • What paint stripper still contains the chemical that used to make Nitromors good?

  • You can still get the trad Nitromors but itā€™s relatively expensive.
I was looking last week and found a cheaper equivalent called Paint Panther (!) - a small tin just about handles a steel frame.

  • The solvent that made it good was dichloromethane. Pretty sure itā€™s still in it, just maybe not as much.

  • Reckon it will shift powder coat?

  • Starchem SynStryp. Langlow Strip Away Pro is OK, but SynStrip is properly evil. And effective.

  • Reckon it will shift powder coat?

Yes, but it's hard work and will require multiple applications. And that's with proper paint stripper, not the shower gel that is modern Nitromors. These days I get my friendly local shot blasting chap to do powder coated frames. 20 quid a go, and usually next day service.

  • Yeah, just blast the bastard.
