  • Frankly, it's embarassing. And the #waronwoke sleeper cells currently online cosplaying as confused old men. #allbarsmatter etc.

  • What would people recommend for an all road/adventure bike that you can actually buy at the moment/receive inside a reasonable time frame?

I'm hoping to be getting a place on GBDuro by the end of the week, and would really like a Mason Bokeh to take it on. However, delivery is already into May and could slip further into June if order isn't placed asap.

The right size Bokeh is yet to pop up on Ebay, though I could gamble and keep waiting. Interested to hear how others are getting on with buying at the moment. And if anyone has something to sell, hit me up.

  • Another one for my Brexit parts box.

Think my current XT 40t cassette is knackered already. Is the big sprocket on these made from a less durable material?maybe I need two..

  • Nice, ordered as a back up cassette. Will go well with my Brexit KMC X11-EL stock (3 chains)

  • I think the last cog is alloy. SLX is probably the same but with 1 less spider. Deserved for pootling about too much at 31/40.

  • @ILb Have a look at the new adventure bike from Decathlon, but I've no idea if they have stock.

Got a decent write up in advntr.cc

  • Decathlon is a good shout, sadly the Riverside 920 is showing out of stock and the GRVL 900 has disappeared from their site entirely.

Lots of reasons to try to go second hand I guess.

  • I'll be looking to sell my 58cm Kona Sutra F+F shortly but that might be a bit on the big side (395mm reach and 640mm stack)

  • Which year is your Sutra? Might be interested if it's the version with 73 mm BB with 29x2.2+ clearance.

  • 58 possibly a bit big, how tall are you?

  • It's a 2017 version and has the 73mm BB and loads of tyre clearance;

I'm 187cm tall so it's a pretty long frame for me but I've loved it. Will post a link in the next few weeks when I get round to selling it

  • Graveleurs - I assume the RX810 crankset will work okay with a 6800 left hand crank? Just need to wait for stock in 175mm length.

  • Rebecca Honsiger has an R8000 Stages LH PM crank on her GRX set up so yes based on that. Splines etc are the same on R8000 and R6800

  • Thanks! Thought as much, hollowtech 2 all seems pretty mix and match-able. Just wondered if they'd messed with the spline and/or axle length as they've moved the chainline out a bit.

  • Shame . The trek shop i work in has a couple of checkpoints left. 54 and 58 though I think.

  • Looked at Bombtrack? Either Beyond or Hook Ext? Don't know what stock places have, but here suggests available february - https://www.thewoodscyclery.co.uk/shop/uncategorised/gravel-bikes/bombtrack-hook-ext-2021/
I got the carbon version of the same frame and it's been great so far.

  • Axles all the same, but I think the crank arm does bend out more. As I tried 6800 on one frame which wouldn't clear the stays but grx did.

  • I have the 2019 EXT-C and it's fantastic. I bought mine from Woods Cyclery middle of last year, but quite a few places had previous years stock available (granted, earlier in the pandemic). Might have luck finding a 2020 model somewhere.

  • @cjr does the same with GRX + R7000 Stages LH PM

  • As @giofox said, I run a R7000 4iiii with a GRX600 chain set. I started off with a pedal spacer on the NDS to even out the q factor, but I think I forgot to put it on when I last changed the pedals.

Not sure if GRX stages etc are available yet, but the GRX600 crank isn't flat at the back so I think they were only making a 800 series one.

  • another vote for Bombtrack here, used to have a Hook EXT (steel) and loved it. A bit weighty was it's only slight downfall for me but I guess I could've thrown some money at it to make it more reasonable.

  • Ext-C definitely helps a lot with weight - mine has come out at just over 9kg. But would be just as happy with a heavier steel one really.particularly as it's going to end up weighed down with bags anyway.
This has reminded me to update my current projects thread on it.
