  • I've cooked myself. Taking most of this week off then halfing my TSS for a few weeks while doing the bare minimum. Drink more beer also prescribed.

Pulled a plan together from the maintenance blog.

  • Has anyone got an introductory discount code? My wife wants to sign up and probably in a month will be fitter and faster than me.

  • Ved

Have you still got any codes?

  • Cheers to you @dbr and @hullian

My wife will he signed up for a months trial later today. Am sure we will he battling for who gets to use the turbo in the near future.

  • I have them sorry, just shout if you need more.

  • I reactivated my TR account yesterday after a long lay off. I’ve signed up for a big ride next year, Alpenbrevit Platinum 2021, five mountain passes at altitude totalling 264km with 7170m climbing. With a full year to prepare I’m using this target event to see if I can get myself into proper shape.

So, my aims are to add 10% to FTP while dropping 2kg and work on extending the time I can spend climbing at the high end of z3/low z4.

It feels good to have some clear goals and I’m feeling motivated to train, both things have been missing for a while.

  • get myself into proper shape.

You mean you're this quick already, and you haven't been trying?!

  • No, I like keeping fit and enjoy the work involved, but I haven't trained for anything specifically since 2017. My numbers and weight have constantly hovered around where they are now since that time and that's fine, but I want to see if I can get myself a level or two above that.

  • How the fuck does my turbo biek have a front wheel puncture?

    Fail thread >>>

  • Your builders sneaked in sabotaged your front tyre?

  • Signed up for the free trial; I'm doing a fair chunk of riding at the moment including (probably too much) Zwift Racing.

Feel like getting something a bit more structured in place might be a better use of my time...

  • When using plan builder should I be marking "hill climbs" as a gravity event (which I've read they're a good match for) or TTs?

  • I’ve not found a satisfactory solution to explaining HCs to TR. I let the plan builder do all the base phases, criterium specialism (that’s a bit of a fudge already) then I’ve been planning my own workouts once into the season.

Doing TT gives you loads of sweet spot and threshold as they assume TT means 20min+

  • "Gravity events" are stuff like DH and 4Cross and Enduro, no? ie. you're using gravity not working against it. So it'd be huge max power to start then little boosts down the run. So that assumption would be for short HCs only, yeah?

  • The cyclocross plans might be worth a look. Lots of Vo2MAX work, which is key for hill climb success I think?

  • That sounds reasonable, especially assuming UK HCs max out under 10min I guess?

  • I've gone off threads like this and this which seems to be DBR over there!

Pretty sure I've also seen gravity speciality suggested for Track Pursuit so kinda of assumed that was really their best option for 5 minute/vo2

Realistically it's a long way off and I'd prob be best actually finishing a base/sustained build/tt specialism first over the winter and see where that takes me, but given I'd dropped the dates in as events for 11 months from now and it got me wondering

  • Haven’t done gravity, might try that next year. The first thread you linked to mentioned TR adding these specialist type events as an option in Plan Builder so maybe it’ll have gone live by spring 2021.

  • Here's mid volume gravity which to my layman's eyes looks along the right sort of lines....

  • Had to knock this mornings workout down to 95%, couldn’t handle the 6 billion TSS

  • Looks like you’ll need a rest decade after that!

I’m a few sessions into ssb1, and so far so good, completely funked the ramp though and decided to stick with the 95% of best 20 from Zwift racing. Reckon I’ll quickly work out if that’s hubris!

  • What went wrong with the test? You using a smart trainer in erg?

  • My legs went wrong!

Not unprecedented for me seem to regularly ramp test about 10% lower than my 95% 20 (which I've been able get basically bang on to for an hour race as well)

Which given I'm keen on an event based on Vo2 efforts isn't the most promising for nature vs nurture!
