This week?
By teleconference, of course!
mespilus jr. tells me he set up a group call for some of his course mates
using the (obvious) option of Google hangouts.@ffm @hamrack @hippy @Sifta

What are you doing - creating a Hangout group or something?
-
• #26531
We can try.
-
• #26532
Doesn't that rely upon swapping email addresses?
-
• #26533
Well Zoom just worled for a very mixed ability bunch at the RRA.
[Mixed ability due to age/ lack of 'net/tech expertise]. -
• #26534
Thanks for the invitation.
By the end of most days I'm zoomed-out.
Too much time working using zoom so no hurry to socialise on line.
This may change though. -
• #26535
With the exception of the previously self-excused @skydancer
are we going to give this a try tonight? -
• #26536
Anyone want to give this a go?
Editted: Zoom link removed.
(No idea if it time expires). -
• #26537
Purely theoretical, of course.
Given the whining of the usual National suspects to loosen our movement restrictions,
(which are much less severe than those imposed in France, Spain & Italy),
should we be allowed to socialise again, this year,
where should we meet up,
to drink a drink a fond 'Farewell to The Shutdown'?

I'm for Express Tavern as I seem to go past it almost every day on my Gove sanctioned hour of exercise.
When it happens only the big fella upstairs can tell us. I dont mean BoJo!!!

Anyone remember the Crabtree? <3
-
• #26540
Wests appeared at The Crabtree twice in 2018. First time so crowded we couldn't get a seat, so stood against the Thames-excluding barrier wall. Second time there were tables available but business was so good all the staff were serving, no-one collecting used glasses, so the tables were littered with previous drinkers detritus.

Yes. My first Wests.
We didn't last there for very long before they didn't want us any more, though, I seem to recall. :)
-
• #26542
Like, circa 2010? I’m sure you were around then. Can’t speak of the 2018 attempt, but I recall us going there for a about a year or more before the pear tree became our home.
-
• #26543
I think I first went in early 2009. The Pear Tree was from April 2010 onwards:

If 'The Shutdown' ever lifts sufficient to allow pubs to re-open,
pop along to a Wests,
and regale us with stories of the formative years. -
• #26546
Monday 1st June sees a further loosening of Th'Shutdown.

Socially distanced Tramp beers in a park somewhere next week?
Beautifully phrased!!! Doubt I can make it, but does sound great! :)

• #26548

Wormwood Scrubs is a big space.
Pick up beers from the Pint of Hops on Churchfield Road or Tyskie from the Polish supermarket Old Oak Common Lane -

Thank you,
and good to hear from you!
How has home schooling been with mini-tbt?Despite many assaults,
(from the '60s oxalic acid leached aluminium from (over-)boiled rhubarb,
'70s and '80s leaded petrol,
'90s onwards NOx and PM diesel particulates),
I can sometimes turn a phrase.Perhaps we can relay the event in realtime on a social media channel
so,
that even the 'absent' are 'with us'?
The Forum continues to be a benevolent fount of information.
From the RIP thread, discussing Underzo's demise.
You have to read to the end.
Well worth it.
