Anyone know anything about VW transporters? I want a family van - 2 kids and an upcoming house renovation means it's going to be my practical daily for a few years, want to spend under £10k for an auto caravelle pref leather. T3, 4 or 5? what say you? gut says t5 and bang swamper wheels / tyres on.

You can buy a nice cake from around there. If it's the place I think it is.

I find the cultural side of this fascinating. By and large, the Swiss support their tough speed laws and the way they are enforced. Culturally, for a Swiss, there is no such thing as unfair policing if you're caught speeding.
Similarly, support for the means tested fine structure is widespread.
A very different attitude to that of UK drivers and speeding where you often hear people complain that a mobile gun was hidden etc.
In Switzerland it is also illegal to have a satnav that warns you about speed cameras. Their genuine national vibe on speeding, is that you deserve everything you get if you do it.

Exactly, in the uk a lot of our traffic fines are pretty mild compared to the euroland and other places (i know the fines regarding speeding are now somewhat income related).
Mate once got a motorbike speeding fine and was like 1100 euro for doing 72 in a 60 (dual carriageway away from a roundabout). In the uk it used be leas than £200 but now probably a bit more? -

Absolutely fantastic. My dream wheels.

VW transporters are ridiculously overpriced imo. Transit or look at Honda stepwagon / Toyota Alphard / Nissan elgrand.

The insight has looked like one of the solar cars. Also doesn't come in the cheap bracket.
@Pifko yeah class leading I believe ;)
@paininthe Yeah like a little van, messing with sunroof in the past means it is not a job I would enjoy. Stripping the roof out is never fun.

I agree with the elgrand/alphard options.

Just test drove and thoroughly checked the DS over. Unfortunately there was an lhm leak (not sure where from) that had sprayed all under the car. Few electrical issues and it felt really sluggish (handbrake was off!) . It had no oomph like a 23ei should...
I walked away.... ! Someone else will buy it and probably fix it for £50.. -

Leaking LHM is not a major issue, many rigid pipes are steel. What was the LHM reservoir contents like? Did you feel the bottom look at the filters?

I say the image of these is forever tarnished now the Audi/BMW crowd have moved in. What are alternatives?
-
• #48948
Is it a variant? There's an estate one over the road from us.
