No racing today, feel guilty about perceived laziness but probably smarter to rest the knee (feels alright today). Sadly it might’ve been my last chance to race this year. Hopefully squeeze in a Boxing Day effort.

Hope no one minds this plug..... I'll be running Race to the Stones in July (anyone else?!) - a bit of a jump from my previous longest run of 21.1km... I'll be raising money for Back Up - a charity that helps people with spinal cord injuries get back to where they were pre accident. My friend Beth is one of those people. She was a pro climber before she broke her neck nearly 10 years, and Back Up have helped her try out many sports since (sit-skiing, para-kite surfing, 'murderball', sailing), as well as providing support and connecting her to a network of others with spinals. Here's the link if anyone would like to know more/donate. It's spurring me on during the miserable rainy runs home from work! https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/athlyn-rtts
In training news, I went out yesterday intending to do maybe 10km, but in such glorious weather, I ended up running an accidental 21.5km and breaking my previous half mara time by nearly 2 mins. Clocked up 55.5km last week which is the most I've ever run, so I think I'll give me knees a break now and start on the mulled wine instead.

Sorry for the late reply. I'll pass on this thanks; I can't really justify it with a perfectly fine Foreruner 35 even though its a great deal. I've already spent too much this month!

Felt awful all day, went for a run, wondered why I was salivating so much, followed by a strong bout of dry-heaving. Felt better after but definitely think racing wouldn't have been much fun yesterday!

dropped out of a x country race on Saturday, first time ever. Felt crap in the warm up then spent the first ten minutes coughing and spluttering so binned it off.
Everything had been going very well and i've just had a pretty poor week. Keep telling myself to ignore it and refocus but it is easier said than done.
For the Christmas period I am considering the Hyde Park Last Friday of the Month 5k as well as parkrun and the local clubs boxing Day handicap. Can't beat racing yourself fit!

Sorry to hear so many people are feeling poorly. I went out early on the crappy track at Regent's Park to get a version of tonight's club session done. The prospect of running to Finsbury Park in the rain, doing intervals in heavier rain, and then running home in heavy rain or sitting drenched on a bus didn't appeal; and I don't wish to invite poorliness with open arms/lungs. But it's a viral lottery…

Some solid running from the group yesterday - good to see @5awyr back on the doubles and straight in at the top of the leaderboard.
I managed a first track session for about two weeks. 5 x mile off 30s, then got bullied into a 6th and did the final 600m to keep my clubmate company on his seventh. Legs are feeling pretty battered this morning.
12 days to the New Years Day 10k..

A mile off 30 seconds sounds like absolute murder.

Been taking it easy this week in anticipation of tomorrows [not-quite] shortest day and Premier Christmas Run of 2018: The Mince and Mull Ultra.
Organised by a friend from the running club, the two of us will be going from sunrise to sunset, starting at Overton Hill and following the Ridgeway until we hit Goring. Should be a good day - 40 miles of hills, mud, mincers and mulled wine! Even managed to rope a couple of others in to run some sections with us.
Then marathon training plan starts next week, on Boxing day!

No marathon spot for me so sub35 10k is spring goal. Trafford 10th March entered.
Entries nearly full: https://www.runnorthwest.co.uk/events/events/trafford-10k/

Am away, otherwise would have given it a pop. The event, not sub35! I can't even comprehend that kind of time. Madness.

wait til you see how much energy you have when it comes to long run days haha. ( cc: @Mickie_Cricket )
finishing hansons will give you a huge boost though, you'll be surprised how fit you are coming out the other end ready to crush the miles. after the race you'll feel much better prepared for endure and the mileage you'll have been doing will be a good base to build off for those next couple of months.

I was planning to use a longer easy run on the schedule for a run in the 20-30mile range. I know this goes against what they say about % of weekly milage being lumped into one run bit it'll be once a month max, and will definitely fit the easy pace guidelines. Might mean I'm a bit less well prepared for the marathon but I've been aiming for Endure for 2 years so feel like I should give it a good shot, and a marathon PB should still be on the table. I'm already a lot fitter than last time I ran London.
I'll be the other side of the world on NYD, planning to do the Christmas Day one if I make it out of bed. Was hoping to do Wendover today but got up too late.
