They sit forward to save the legs for the run.

Triathlete have traditionally favoured very forward positions, as it supposedly lessens the recruitment of the hamstrings and glutes so that they are saved for the run following the ride.
As mentioned, dropping your saddle and moving it back is probably a good start - sitting right on the end of it to get the power out can be a sign that it is too high, as by sitting that far forward you are effectively lowering the distance to the bottom bracket.

triathletes tend to get fitted forward based on something about it being better to run off the bike, really I think its to make sure that triathletes look like nobs!
at least there was consensus on where to start!

You may find that leaving the bars where they're at and moving the saddle will rotate your shoulders into a better position.

How can you see where you're going young man.
FFWD front wheel? Lol, triathlete stuff writes itself.

What's the approximate ratio? and are we talking about moving it a say 3 mm back or more?
-
• #18364
They're the new version. I might have a spare (old version) clamp if you still need it. Let me know and I'll look later.

• #18365
Dunno, try a cm back and 5mm down? Make sure you measure your current position exactly so you can go back to it if needed
-
• #18366
Depends where on the saddle you want to sit.
But you probably want it moved back a lot more than 3mm, just remember to move it down to compensate for the extra distance from the bottom bracket.

I may have to DNS for the Shaftesbury 50. I usually borrow a mate’s car but they are using it. Train is not an option at that time.
Might be able to get a lift but it would be a massive faff and I’m unlikely to beat my fluke time from earlier this season.

Cheers. I need to check the startsheet to work out where everything is then I'm sure this will make sense :)
It'll probably piss it down in which case I will be DNS WITH NO APOLOGIES to the weather scum!
Well it seems pretty obvious I should try moving my saddle back! I did a back fit at the start of the year and that felt good, but it was more about comfort than aeros.
@danb Here is a front on pic from the last hour of a 12, so at least it proves I can hold the position! What is the relevance of being a triathlete? I'm not btw. I was going to try doing tests with my PM based the suggestions I get here!
