Also - those tubes aren't latex! Marginally lighter yes but you'll lose way more than that in Crr

What would that look like in seconds over a short and relatively slow* hill climb though?

*compared to standard road riding

5w in latex tubes, which'll get you more than 20g in rubber saving (fractions of a second)

What tyres are you going with?

Marginal gains though right

You would need to look at the time saved as a percentage of the total climb time to decide how marginal the gain was. And even then, if the gain is more or less free, why not do it?

Veloflex Record 23mm - 150g each. With those conti tubes (50g) they're almost tubular weight.

I know, the rims are always going to be heavier.

I think I've got some spare Ti speedplay axles somewhere if you want the upgrade

Conti SS tubes also aren't too reliable. Have used for many hours on an indoor velodrome no probs (which in hindsight was a bad idea) but managed to flat on the 3 mile ride between Chorley train station and some hill climb I rode last year, in the dry, in July (with Conti SS tyres, that are pretty good at resisting flats).

Thanks, but I've got some along with Ti bow ties and bolts already. Just need to pluck up the courage to melt the locktite and swap em over.

I've started using latex tubes. They feel faster and make me lighter because of all the extra calories I burn pumping them up to pressure. Every. Fucking. Day.
