seems like every road has been resurfaced recently
That's what I saw on the Round-the-Island this year, the roads were glorious. You can buy through tickets to Ryde/Fishbourne too which were good value.

Where did you find them at a good price? I've got large feet and have been in the market for new shoes for quite some time!
-

I got them from ebay. Used but literally unmarked, for a price I'm embarrassed to even say. Not much use if I can't pedal without scraping holes in the shoes and cranks though...

Thinking of hanging some bikes by a single wheel for a few years in storage. Is it likely to cause any issues with the wheels? Assuming not but thought I'd ask.

I doubt you can use that chain as a wick.

HELP please (BB)
Can anyone shed any light as to why the bottom bracket that I just cleaned, degreased, regreased liberally and put back in finger tight is unsmooth? so frustrating. The bearings looked fine

Also, would this headset be 1 1/8 inch and where would be the best place to get replacement bearings online? thanks in advance

Looks like a 1". Measure the diameter of the quill, if it's 22 mm then it's a 1". If it's 25.4 mm then it's a 1 1/8".
As for the BB, I'd venture a guess that the LHS of that spindle looks corroded. Give us some better pics of the races (cups and cones) and we can let you know more. -

Hi Hamrack! Thanks so much. Will do that next time I'm in the garage. Is the quill the diameter of the stem shaft, which I could find out by measuring the width of the top locking part of the headset?

HELP please (BB)
UN55 :)

Yes, the quill is the part of the stem that goes down inside the fork.

Could you recommend a cheaper option? Or should I a bigger tube for better £/g. I can't imagine I will need more than 10g though.

Only if you're a bike shop. I'm still on my first syringe of Tacx after about 8 years.

Is there any computer operating system that allows for desktop embedded calendar/to-dos/cards etc. I'm constantly closing my browsers and need a way to keep up to date with tasks at a glance, (currently using Trello, but not nearly enough for it to be worthwhile) without having to open Chrome. I've got a shortcut to Trello in my dock (OSX) but it just opens in Chrome. Had a dedicated app but it wasn't great / horrible UI. Does Chrome OS do something like that? Linux which I've never used? I know Google discontinued their Pixel laptop but my Pixel/Android phone has widgets and it's a dream but I don't want to stick it on a stand and have it constantly open. I just want to be able to glance and see what's next without having to resize or reopen windows and browsers etc. Literally the only alternative I can think of is getting a third monitor and opening a different browser (E.G. Firefox rather than Chrome) then leaving it running. Ugh. Or a paper calendar stuck on the wall behind the iMac.

Dunno if this is too simplistic, but how about stickies on the mac os dashboard?
-
• #85097
Why not just have the calendar etc in a Chrome window separate from your main work one, and not close it?

both the default calendar app (for your calendar bits) + wunderlist (for your todo bits, I imagine other todo apps are available that also have widgets) can appear in the mac notifications side bar as widgets, accessible with a two finger swipe from right edge of trackpad?
Fantastical is good and has a menu bar widget. -

Windows 10 has a few options to enable desktop gadgets. You can either re-enable the old Windows 7 ones or use Rainmeter for more customisable stuff.
There has been a lot of the island roads as well as all the lighting replaced. Whilst I think this is a good thing, it is being done under a PFI contract which will be paid for by our children, their children and possibly theirs too.
