I am currently rocking these stylish and beautifully-made specs. The hinge alone is an excellent piece of engineering

Has anyone used Ciliary Blue for reglaze before?
I have a couple of pairs of Oakley's I'd like to get fitted with prescription lenses (Jawbones for riding and Frogskins for fun) and they seem to be fairly reasonable on the prices (3rd party lenses not Oakley) -

Stepped on my glasses a few months ago, pretty broken but have had them sitting on my face with one half held together with sewing thread.
I need some new ones really but does anyone have a recommendation for somewhere to get frames repaired?

I've been thinking about new frames since I dropped my regular ones a few months ago, finally wearing my second pair. Both are reglazed specsavers from several years ago, the dropped ones are broken and the current ones the colour is coming off the arms.
Went into Roger Pope in Dulwich where I last had a test and got the frames reglazed, had a browse and nothing there jumped out, mostly tiny lens area, plus I only saw one pair for under £200. Happened to walk past Tom Davies Bespoke in canary wharf and went in for a gander. Really cute acetate pair in a pale tortoiseshell with blue flashes, but also £££.
After years of dark frames I'm thinking of something lighter, maybe light tortoiseshell, and rounder. Dare I say it maybe more feminine. Seem to be quite a few big round lensed styles currently in fashion - I'm always trying to avoid looking at people over the top of my glasses, schoolteacher style, or getting a crick in my neck cycling.
Going to check out https://www.cubitts.co.uk/glasses - https://www.cubitts.co.uk/glasses/herbrand?color=camo look nice maybe, although I'm wary of going too cute.
Also thinking about buying a pair of these https://goodordering.com/collections/eyewear/products/multi-lens-glasses-maroon because I've never had prescription sunglasses, and they might be cool for that. But the models, they never smile. They have skinny noses. I'm pretty sure my cheeks would hit the bottom of those frames in a really annoying way when I smile, and they'd probably constantly be sliding down my nose anyway... Is it possible to add nose pads to such frames to lift them up?
Edit: @dbr spotted! https://www.cubitts.co.uk/journal/

Well, googling tells me there is a place in California and a place in NYC that add nose pads to plastic frames... and that apparently what I need are "asian fit" glasses :|

Good spot! I've been working with Cubitts for a couple of years now - great people and an excellent product, especially for the money.

How would I go about finding a new set of frames that are as near a likeness as possible for an old set that is no longer made (and the only second hand ones that I can find are crap quality)?
[Edit] And what's with the ridiculous amount of fake sites for spectacles (not just sites for fakes)? It seems like every other site is a scam.

Where's good these days? I got my current pair from Opera Opera and have always been impressed with build quality - particularly the mechanism which was unlike anything I'd had before.
Would consider going to them again. Vaguely interested in Kirk & Kirk for Brighton reasons.
Others to check out?

Where have Opera Opera moved to? The old shop had gone when I was last in town... My crystal frames from there are still fantastic after I don't know how many years, brilliant quality...

Obvious laser surgery is obvious but...
I've just driven about 80 miles in winding, narrow, unlit national speed limit roads and somehow survived despite not being able to see a fucking thing. Had such atrocious glare in my glasses - there were a few really near misses tbh so a bit jittery still.
Are there lenses you can get for night time driving? Or is it just the scratched lenses worsening the effect?

What big, clear plastic frames should I get for my wide ginger head?
Found myself feeling Hugh Grant’s look in the new Paddington film.
Under £100 would be nice. Under £200 is essential. I lose my glasses a lot.

My next frames will be Cazals, too many crystal frames out there for my liking... 😐

You’re saying Hugh Grant is a mainstream bitch?

Do it

I'm hankering for Cazals, but too spendy for me.

I've been toying with the idea for a couple of years, I'm both old enough and fat enough to pull it off I reckon... Too right on the spendy, will have to get a vintage hookup with a mate in the old clobber game...
yeah me too just for giggle goggles.
