After 18 years of wearing glasses and being through various brands of frames from Cutler & Gross, Oliver Peoples and a selection of other fashion/designer brands, I have received more compliments on my current pair than any other by quite some margin.
The cheapest frames in Specsavers.

Which ones? I have some specsavers vouchers that need using.

where have all the persols on aliexpress gone?

These ones:
(Although they are the second cheapest, my mistake!)
-
• #507
Ooh, they are quite nice actually!

I only got them because I felt I wasn't getting my money's worth out of my contact lens subscription!

I've had a pair of clear framed glasses for the past three years and they are getting super shabby-looking. The acetate is no longer clear in places and I've tried polishing with brasso which helped a bit but they're never going to be the same...
Looks like clear frames are doomed to this fate as non-clear plastics don't show this kind of degradation as much.
Bit of a pisser having to go on the search again but it's been three years since the last eye test so it's probably time. These look good but no idea if they'll work IRL.

Clear frames? They'll never catch on... 😎

Haha! Yeah, I totally copied you. How do you look after them or do you have many pairs? Clearly (fnar) my face oil is like alien blood.
Feeling these ones actually... Same brand as my current pair, not too different apart from the black tips.
These are a little less Joe 90

Re: Looking after frames...
I do fuck all, I've had my current ones for about five years and on the rare occasion I do clean them properly they come up like new... My first crystal frames went a bit crusty and cloudy over time and were starting to look very tired by the time they'd snapped when they got knocked off my bedside table...
The frames I'm wearing now cost me £300 without lenses, not cheap... My crystal sunglass frames cost me £50 and they're as good as the day I bought them, follow the link I sent you... I might actually stock up on those when I'm back in Europe...

This is my current pair with the weird haze on the arms and yellowing nose bridge.
Gonna hit them with brasso for a while this eve and see if they improve.
New ones are on the way :)

Where from?

The old ones? Booth & Bruce.

• #517
Exactly what my Oliver Peoples did... Not nice, is it?
-
• #518
It seems to happen in laminations in the plastic. The Brasso helped a bit but took a fuck load of elbow grease for not a lot of result. I think a proper polishing wheel would do it...
-
• #519
Silvo much less abrasive than Brasso, might work better.
-
• #520
I was wondering what the difference was... More abrasive would probably be better though, right?

I really want some Cazals as a pair of everyday specs... I think I'm old (and fat) enough to pull them off now...

Probably an exceptional move.
Any recommendations for cheap prescription reglazing places?
