How do people rate taping tubs on using tubular tape as oppose to glueing ?
-

Costs watts, don't get high in the process.

Costs watts
I keep reading this - Are there any stats anywhere? All Crr tests these days seem to be testing clinchers.
-
• #2263
I was told by someone who's tested that it's definitely there.

Tape costs about £6 which is good for a pair of wheels.
Taping and fitting the tyres takes about 10-15 minutes and away you go. -

Think I'll try that to save the hassle of glue. Thanks

Glue is not more hassle, just takes time.

No worries. Don't forget to stretch your new tubs!
Glueing isn't hard either but it is hard (for me) not to put glue everywhere when you brush it onto rim / tub.
I put masking tape on nice rims to avoid glue marks.
I wear old clothes.
I don't do it over carpeted area or nice furniture. -

Glue over tape simply for the puncture replacement situation.
-

Tape seems easier initially but once you've had to clean dried tape off a rim next season the time saving is negligible. With glue, you can just scrape off any lumps, appy a fresh coat and go.
Vittoria mastik every time. -

Are Continental Sprinter Gatorskins generally seen to be the best for puncture protected tubulars? Would mainly be for winter racing and park laps but would need to be able to survive riding across London which I'm thinking Veloflex etc wouldn't be the best for....
Any other recommendations?

My experience of the clincher version was that they cutup pretty quicky......but see where you're going with it.....not too pricey on PlanetX
