  • Lovely. What is that 'born to climb' thingie?

  • Also, did you use any gel pads on the flat sections of the bar? It seems like a good/natural idea there

  • Those are a pair of Isadore Climber's bibs. Slovak brand founded by the Velits bros who are btw riding for BMC and Etixx now. I cannot tell for sure but based on what I've seen so far these are very likely above Rapha quality. This is my first experience with these bibs, I tried them on yesterday in my room and I was blown away!!!
The quality, fit and the finishing is absolutely superb! The price might seem high at 160€ but this is really high end stuff. Looking forward to try them normally on a longer ride. Check out their website ;)

  • I used 3.2 lizard skins so I believe that would be utterly useless :)

  • They better have a jet engine built in at that price tag, looking forward to the full build pics!

  • @dragulievic Have you seen my rossin old-with-new bike?
Similar, but different. there's a thread, just a sec...

  • They have premium quality built in ;)
Really. Paying more is mostly worth it.
I do not say that the price is OK, it is quite a lot actually, especially with my salary.
BUT - I am convinced that currently on the market these are among the best you can get :)

  • Great stuff! Looking forward to seeing the end result. I did such a "Neo-retro" build a couple of years ago. Classic Nago' with Red gruppo - ride was fantastic. Got some curious looks on the roads from fellow geek-riders! Not much that beats old ornate-steel frames. It's like a rolling chapel.. :)

  • heh, thanks.
sure it is unusual and eye-catching! in my opinion the ride quality of steel bikes equipped with modern components is surprisingly good and probably underrated

  • I came across with your build earlier, nice one! Do you still have it?
I've got Rossin fetish so I am regularly browsing the net looking for Rossins :P

  • Riding to work yesterday I noticed a lovely Rossin, similar to this it seemed, parked near the Strand in London (I wouldn't have parked it there!). Was in a rush and couldn't take pictures...but it did look lovely.

Great frames for sure and this build is set to be amazing.

  • Yup. rode it to work today. :)

  • Almost there!

  • Go! Go! Go!

  • No doubt this bike will look gorgeous but I still have to ask: is there any chance the zondas are just temporary? I think traditionally laced wheels would do the bike more justice. But it's probably just my personal preference :)

  • Really liking the chorus group. +1 on more traditional looking wheels, but concede practicallity is a higher currency.

  • That is right, however, I wanted Campy wheels and these Zondas were very cheap, for half of the normal price with only 1500km in them. Besides the frameset these are the only used components, everything else is brand new. I don't know whether they make other than G3 wheels to be hones, what is a pity because traditional lacing looks better, I think Vento is the highest model with traditionally laced medium profiled wheels. Hyperion ultras etc are out of question, way too expensive for me. The next upgrade will probably be the Shamal Mille wheels, those are brutal and beautiful.

  • OK, these are really the last two pictures before the full build.
The bike is basically finished, only the chain is missing and the bartape on the right side.
I have to confess that I am crappy with adjusting the shifting system so I have to take it to the local bikeshop where I purchased the groupset. Unfortunately it looks I will have time for that only tomorrow. More pictures coming soon!

  • Really nice build!
Frame got restored by Arko Bici, huh? Marek is doing top notch work!
Glad that I found the build up thread to this lovely frame.

Nice build so far, but are you sure about the rear-derraileur cabling?

    Best wishes from Germany!

  • The rear derailleur cable is a bit too long, but in the picture it looks longer as the derailleur is not pulled yet by a chain

  • @dragulievic the only excuse for not updating us is if you've been out cycling on it all weekend. So...?

  • Indeed. Hopefully with the Garmin I've sent him

  • That is very close to reality, on Saturday I was on a 120km trip, on Sunday I did only a 50km "recovery ride", I am already in love with the bike.
I purchased a Garmin 810 from @anidel who was very helpful, the transaction was super smooth, thanks a lot!!
I did not upload any pictures yet because I have just one shot with my cellphone and it is of rather shitty quality.
An acquaintance of mine has a proper cam, she will upload some European maps to my Garmin and I will ask her to make a few shots, please, be patient gentlemen! ;)
(I know I said very soon, sorry... :P)

  • Yepp, Marek did an excellent job!
Even though I knew he send his works to the overseas as well, I´m glad to hear that people are familiar with him outside of Slovakia.
I´m gonna include him below the final picture with the full specs :)
