  • Ah great news, knowing you're riding it is excusable! Do feel free to give a brief ride report too, quite interested in the steel frame modern group feel. Should be able to understand once my Moser is rolling. Looking forward to photos too.

  • The frame rear spacing is 126 or 130mm ?

  • Shit, I just deleted my whole reply.... so again :D
First of all, bear in mind that on my older Rossin I have Campy Khamsins, while on the Prestige I have Zondas, which are apparently way better.
The Prestige has hexagonal Tange Prestige tubing, while my older Rossin is made of classical Columbus SL or SLX tubes, not sure. Not speaking of the whole grouppo, on my new bike I have a full 2015 11s Chorus, on my older steelhorse I have 10s Centaur.
And besides this, I have absolutely no experience with any carbon, Ti or Alu frames. I owned an Alu pinarello 10 years ago for a few months but honestly, I do not remember the ride quality, I was not prepared for road cycling and sold the bike after a few months.
A friend of mine who owns an alu Canyon tried the Prestige and according to his words it "bites" :D And I have to agree.
The bike is surprisingly responsive, it is stiffer than my older Rossin and the acceleration is also quite good. On uneven, bumpy roads the bike absorbs shocks way better than my older bike, I do not know whether it is due to the better wheelset or the frame itself, I guess both contribute to the better experience. The bike weighs 9kg which is OK for an old steel frameset I believe. Probably the only downside is the front part I would say, on downhills above 55km/h+ it is a bit flimsy. This could be reduced by a carbon fork + stiffer stem but I could not afford it now and more importantly the Prestige fork is way too beautiful with that crown and hexagonal shaping to replace it. But besides this I am more than satisfied with the result and this just confirms my theory that people tend to massively underrate and somehow deride "vintage" frames. Not speaking of the fact that this frame is from the early 90s which is not that "vintage" as it may look :)

  • it is 130mm, the bike dates from 1992 approximately :)

  • Ok cool it's better.

  • OK, this is just a teaser, we need to find a better background, this was too dark.
It is a pity though, the white X looks great on the black background
Right click on the second picture : view image, you will see it in a better resolution

  • Looks great, the darkness of the group works really well against the frame. Enjoyed reading the ride report too, sounds like a winner and so pleased the fork isn't being replaced with a carbon jobbie! Decals on the rims removable? ;)

  • How does it rides ?

  • Get rid of the wheel logos and you're winning

  • Scroll up a bit, I already discussed this with jambon, he had the same question ;)

  • I was thinking of removing the decals/logos but I am still hesitating. Sooner or later it will happen though.
Update: the decals have been already removed @jambon

  • It's like when you get a new phone and leave the protective sticker on... once it's removed it doesn't seem as new I know. Looks better yeah?

  • Definitely, I was thinking about removing them actually from the beginning but I was afraid I will regret it. But I donĀ“t. The bike is hence much cleaner, no unnecessary noise ;) The Shamal Milles have rather discrete decals, the black on black style is great, but this one was too much. I will post some new pictures until the next weekend!

  • Really a lovely frame (and build of course)!
But personally, I can't deal with the red of the saddle. :P Kinda pops out to much ATMO.

  • OK ladies and gentlemen, here are the promised pictures (with a tiiiiiny tiny delay, sorry), unfortunately only five for now.

  • Looks great. Which BB are you using?

  • Campy, ITA threaded

  • Winning.

  • Looks great - how's everything settling in?

  • That is so lovely...

  • I love the bike! It rides very nicely (Also, among others, got a KOM on it at a local segment out of 974 people ;) )
The only thing that bugs me a bit is the front. It is made of steel - it is flexible.
So I started thinking about getting a carbon or Ti frameset for the next season for competitions, I want to participate in some local events and riding a 9Kg steel bike is unfortunately a disadvantage. The BB is stiff though.
But even if I buy a new frameset, I will never sell this one, it is a beautiful frame and it perfectly fits my measurements!

  • Congrats on the KOM, that's good going!

Granted if you're competing you'll be at a disadvantage, although looking stylish while doing so. Not being the most competitive frame by today's standards there is a satisfaction in seeing your fitness/technique improve on a once competitive frame, whether that is just training. If I was on a carbon bike and you overtook me i'd certainly break a wry smile.

  • had this some years ago when i was fit and young. steel and 8speed going by a bunch of guys on italian crabonz with 11speed record uphill on sportive tilff-bastogne-tilff. they didnt like it!

  • that bb cluster. homerdrewling.gif. i know everybody is giving you props for keeping the steel fork, but a nice carbon fork would remedy your predicaments and make it lighter. jussayin'.
