the advantage of being off earlier is that you're less likely to get slowed by traffic at the roundabout, that's what I'm focussing on!
Btw people can park for free at my office if they like its about a 2 minute ride from hq and 5 minutes from the start, plenty of room for noisy turbos!
-
• #12030
True, but less likely to get speeded up by traffic on the the bits between the roundabouts, though!

I'm off a 5. A prince before the plebs.

fair enough, seems like a strange start order to me nonetheless!
hopefully the 11 minutes between the two of us should see a marked increase in the HGV traffic and a temp rise ;)
my 55t chainring has arrived, having a bit of a wobble now, so have ordered the 42t inner ring to go with it just incase I cant actually get the thing started!

What order? Top seeds go in 10 slots, 2nd tier goes in 5 slots and the rest is probably just filled in randomly(?), maybe factoring in some people's requests for early or late starts.
You can have your HGVs - I've got an FDJ team car for the day...
I'm debating whether or not to run single-ring again. The bike is working so I can't really be arsed breaking it for marginal gains and I have larger DA chainring set on the way which would mean I could keep shifting working nicely but with bigger gears.

Do you have any sprockets bigger than 15T? You'll be fine. The start is down the slip road, so it's not even hard to get off the line, but those of us who don't indulge in sick practices involving dérailleurs manage to get up to speed pretty quickly on 100"+ fixed.

There will be a marked increase in HGV traffic as soon as @hippy starts

Sorry, only just checked back. Thanks for looking those up, alas I'm not going to be able to make those on easter sunday due to family commitments. I've just pre-ordered my lunch at Durlston Castle as it happens.
I'll take the fast road bike though, don't suppose you're around during the week at all?
R&R ride was an odd mix of carefully policed pace on dreary bypasses and power-talking choppers dangerously giving it the big-un on the ferry road.

Back on 2nd Apr I'm afraid. You?

That's the day I go home. Hey ho, I'll be coming again in the summer to see if I can ride the Wheelers' event with an ill-publicised cancellation again; the one that goes past Monkey-World. Did a short 24.00 self timed on the road bike last time.

Oof.
Hippy's Gushing Valve traffic...

rather surprisingly it actually shifts between the 36 and 55, chain is a bit short at the moment, but a new one and a 42 are arriving today and i'll throw it all on.
its not a looker by any stretch of the imagination!

I'm not riding the E2/10 and my 10 PB is 20:53. I need to knock another minute off that though so I won't be doing it at the H10/22 course, I'll need to ride a proper cheat course somewhere to have any chance.

Uxbridge Road.

You going to york then?
My point was that teh E2/10 is quick and close.
-
• #12048
No, not for Easter. I misread the schedule. V718 is on Good Friday, same day I'd already entered the H10/22. I thought it was on Sunday but that's another V course - sporting. So, I'm actually going to Santa Pod instead to watch some drag racing :)
I might have a go on the E2/10 but it's tricky to find races that don't conflict with my ultra training. Hard to be sharp for a 10mi when I'm doing 300k+ rides.
Next E2/10 is May 7th - I might be doing a 400k audax or there's a 50mi on the F1 course which might be quick? There's also the H10/17r which was my previous PB course.

Yes, polar opposites. Unless you just do the 10 in training. Good excuse that.
Is there one in teh weeks before trans am when you're tuning up? If you're tuning up and not just riding yourself into the ground like most.

That's kinda what I've done for the last two - rode out and raced a sporting 10 just for shits and giggles. And last Saturday I rode out and raced a 15mi just to get the club record.
Problem is, I'm not going to get a fast time without all the aero trickery and riding out generally won't leave me in a fast state. What I've done in the past is drive out with the missus and she drives back while I ride the training bike home.
10s and 25s etc I can only do what I can manage on the day - main goal is June still.
No, not yet. And I hardly ever ride 10s so I've only got a crappy time from a club event on a slow course, so if it's full I won't get in. Back up is there's a club 25 at Fifield later that morning.
EDIT - yes, just come through now. I'm off at the crack of dawn when it will most likely be cold and slow. PM me your email if you've not got it.
