Depends how you like your Android.
The Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 is based on the ZTE Blade S6 Plus. The Blade S6 currently doesn't have a CyanogenMod build because the stock bootloader's crippled and root was only achieved in December.

That's true, motorbikes are a curve ball and I don't have experience using it on a motorbike.

So, are there any waterproof/rugged phones that are actually any good?
Why don't we get the S5 and S6 Active?
-
• #17006
I don't mind the s5 neo at all
-
• #17007
It's not their ruggedised one though is it? What's the "Neo" all about?

Moto G 2015 ? Waterproof, efficient and cheap.

For £115 I can manage. It's in my bag. Off to EE to grab a nano sim. Waiting for unlock code.

neo, a
matrixstar tek allusion perhaps..?probably not, I tend to break or mishandle them so don't get excited or precious about having the next greatest thing, but it's rugged enough to go in back pocket and get wet without wimping out and getting the train home..
handtec do the active

Phone unlocked and working. Not hugely different from the Galaxy Note 2 it's replacing (minus a crack across the screen, stuttering [which causes sync issues with video] when listening to audio with bluetooth, busted 3.5 audio jack, random reboots, charging issues, etc.). Higher res screen, which is nice. For a slightly less than a third of the price of other phones I was looking at (Nexus 5X, Oneplus Two) I really can't complain. If custom ROMs to emerge, even better.

My phone has the wrong time and date. On 02.
Weird, any ideas?
-
• #17013
Once you go manual, you never go back.. or something like that.
-
• #17014
I tried that, but a few apps still complained the time was wrong when I set it manually.
-
• #17015
How do they know the time is wrong if you're setting the system time manually? Makeanosense
-
• #17016
I dunno. Reset it and now it works.
-
• #17017
Do u even internet hippy? SSL won't work with with an incorrect system clock.
-
• #17018
What is 'incorrect'?
If the date was 1900 or 2070 maybe. If, like my old phone, it would just be an hour our so out, then SSL should work fine.

Has anyone had any experience with One Plus Two? I UTFS but found nothing. The website is all flash, swank and claims but if anyone has first-hand experience I'd like to hear about it.

I thought they were fairly roundly shitcanned.

I've got a oneplus one and it's been great. My understanding is that the OPT isn't the 'flagship killer' in price and spec that the OPO was. It's got some fancy stuff (like fingerprint sensor) but not got NFC. Might be an issue for you, might not. Also, they've moved away from Cyanogen to their own blend of Android OS and started introducing bloatware into the ROMs, or so I've heard.
Coupled with Oneplus' disastrous after-sales support (which I've luckily never needed), I can see why people have bought something else instead.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I'm seriously considering moving away from the iphone and would like to buy something outright with a sim only. I thought the OPT could have been the guy.

I've got a OPT (moved over from iPhone) and it's great, there's no bloatware compared to the OPO, the mrs has a OPO and the only major difference I can notice is the shelf feature.
It is massive though, great when using the screen, but I did feel a bit of a plonker at first when using it as a phone.

Also interesting. I read that the home button is unresponsive. Any experience of that?
Yeah fair point.
I think the issue is that the traffic might be longer on one route, but I know that the road is wider so I can filter okay on it so its actually quicker on a bike.
