  • Im pretty sure it has a latex inner.
    I'll check.

Tempted by a pair of 28mm for the alu wheels.

  • I've had a Schwalbe One on a spare rim for ~3 weeks now, it's still almost as hard (fnar) as when I first inflated it. If it's latex then it's magic latex.

  • Mine goes down.
    It's a Pitstop repair though.

  • It's also dead. Could cut it open to see.

  • My Ultimo HT's were noticeable in their going-down, from one day to the next, whereas the One is majestic in it's continued inflation.

I do, however, like the idea of magic latex.

  • Looks like magic latex to me.

Or its just yours that's butyl.

  • It's a thicker latex than you'd find in a veloflex or separate mich or vitt inner.

  • Ok, how can I check what mine is? It really isn't going down, which every other latex tube I've ever had has done.

Without cutting it open, that is.

  • Yours is butyl then.
    Mine was an old one.

If you want to believe in magic latex that's fine too though.

  • Magic latex it is!

  • Ok, just to check this - the Isogrip compound Corsa CX/SC is the new and improved one that won't kill you in the wet?

  • Yeah.
Iso grip works. At least as good as veloflex in the wet now.

  • Ok, might go 25 SC, or will Miro castigate me for being post-Gumwall?

  • I was thinking the same for my 'race wheels'.

The paves are barely heavier and ride bloody nicely if you want something more robust.

  • Although I may splash out on FMB again now I have a second wheelsets. Paves for abuse, fmb for weekends and racing.

Francois from Fmb seems really decent chap. Been corresponding a bit.

  • I've ordered some SC's, anyone interested in a pair of Schwalbe One tubulars in the fashionable "24" width, expertly stretched and ready to glue?

  • could be keen; price?

  • I'm loving my Veloflex but keep getting talked to in cafes by guys with beards, tats, and fluro accessories.

    :-(

  • The bear is the new mamil.

  • Didn't think the hipsters had got to Veloflex yet?

  • Just read your ongoing commentary on the Schwalbe tubs, I know latex are lighter, but is there much difference puncture wise? Can you assume that if something penetrates the tyre you're pretty much screwed either way?

  • latex is less prone to pinch flats innit

  • I think I posted the link to the SlowTwitch sealant test a little while back - it showed a dramatic bias toward latex in terms of sealants actually sealing.

This time round I am going to use a sealant, pre-dosed into the tyres, so want latex for this reason.

I also wanted to annoy Miro by running gumwalls.
