What should I replace my S-Works 2D with? Tempted to go for an aero option since this country is always fucking cold and I sweat anyway temp ain't likely to make a difference. Any extra weight will be a neck strengthening workout..

If Your head is Giro shaped. I'd still recommend the air attack. I like the visor option because I get a fuller view. The helmet is a touch cooler without it. So I tend to leave it off and wear sunnies if I'm on hols somewhere with a decent climate. The helmet extends Down the back more than my previous helmets too. Which must be good.

air attack

I think if I was going aero route I'd get the Evade but thinking about it, it's not like I'll be racing in it so probably better just getting another light one again. The Prevail looks like the 2D a bit. Hmm.. might wander down to a shop and try some on.

The irony here being I've never actually purchased a helmet based on its safety claims.

- Um.. dunno.. some arbitrary measure I can use to separate candidates, weight, cost, vents..

Is it bad that I'm thinking of getting a giro air attack just to have the mad visor look.
-
• #661
Not if you like that look.

Got a giro atmos ii the other day. Right cheap and way better than either of my previous kask's. Kask's fucking suck for airflow to the front of the head (imo)

I have a 2 Catlike whispers so don't need a new road helmet, but I have the POC MIPS mtb helmet, by far the comfiest helmet I have worn. When my Catlikes give up the ghost I would definitely ensure my next road helmet has MIPS too, both for comfort and the extra safety.

I wish the website would jsut tell me wtf it is... http://www.mipshelmet.com/

This is better...
http://specialized.desk.com/customer/portal/questions/1306043-mips-helmets-
"(They have an extra shell inside that can slip about 5mm in an impact.)"
I kind of get what it does now. Spesh don't see their benefit though.
"Nowhere does the article mention the key flaw in the MIPS argument:
in the real world, bicycle helmets are so loosely coupled with the head that a slip-plane inside the helmet structure does not add significant sideways movement in an impact. The helmet moves anyway, unless it is constrained in a lab test." -

Now thinking an uvex city v.

Not really done helmets before, it's more a way to hold a visor for me.

It's all about the visor.

• #668
Or for the Winter...
-
• #669
maybe this is just because most people don't properly do up their helmet
-
• #670
Nope, even if it's strapped down tight to your head helmets move and especially so at crash-level impacts.
-
• #671
Try it first, on my head (and on a lot of other people's head) the visor becomes useless as the helmet can sit too high to cover your eyes properly.
I got myself a standard for this reason. -
• #672
Go try some stuff on and buy one. Don't buy one of those evade things, they look stupid.
-
• #674
you do look like him, minus oxygen/mic mask and guitar, but I'm afraid I was talking of another helment! :D

Yeah bit confused about that. If it's the same shape as the current Mojito, only larger, that'd be perfect. Favourite helmet and would have room for a cap underneath then.
in the same boat as noticed this in my 3 year old giro ionos this morning :-(
