  • I am cocking going to Houston where there is delicious food.

Bike appears to cost $349/week to hire there and I'll probably barely get to ride it. It seems I could take mine for $100, but likewise riding fairly unlikely and massive hassle.

    ho hum

  • Five fucking kilos in three days? It's enough to drive someone to cake...

It's probably just water retention. You should drink some beer to dehydrate yourself.

    #SCIENCE

  • @graunch I had to work two weeks in Houston and found a seller on Craigslist who did SS conversions. I contacted him and agreed to buy a beater for $200 if he would buy it back in a fortnight for $150. Did two weeks commuting from hotel in Galleria to Downtown (saved $50/day on taxi fares), and had a way to get around at the weekend (public transport is poor). He brought it to my hotel and came to collect it later. Win! If you are interested I can try to dig out who it was.

  • Just back from a cycling week in Gran Canaria.

    6 days
    120km a day
    2800m climbed per day

...and I've put on weight. Much as I did in the alps. Its a talent.

I've decided that this was a 'build week' and that the weight loss/ FTP gain starts here. Eating Whole packets of fig rolls is not mineral loading for recovery.

  • Ate few half kilo lumps of this Spanish fig cake stuff while out riding in the mountains. According to my grading of foodstuff, by density alone. This stuff was a winner!

  • Likely as 2.7 of those kilos have gone since returning. Still 2kg that need to fuck off before I'm back to last Thursday's weight though. Stupid body!

  • I've been trying the 5:2 thing for a couple of weeks now. There is a definite trend emerging where I put most of the weight back on over the weekend. I cannot resist the beers. This is probably the lowest I've weighed since 2005

First goal is to get under 84.1 so my BMI is classed as normal. Then try to hit 80 for a nice round number.

  • That's freaky. It has a face.

  • My self esteem is at an all time low given I have now started wobbling when I move. This needs fixing. I must stop comfort eating now I have stopped taking drugs to feel better about myself. Rock / hard place bollocks.

  • Bin all the junk food in your house or office. That's a good start.

  • I mean bin, I don't mean 'eat'.

  • My progression was, I think, typical.

    replaced teh durgs/booze with cigarettes
    replaced cigarettes with candy
replaced candy with carrot sticks and celery
    ...
    time passes
    ...
    replaced carrot sticks with coffee
    added in not-vegan
    added in not-vegetarian
    added in booze
    added in good eating.
    started lifting weights.

Well that is my secret to success!*

  • @pharoahsanders , I would be very interested indeed in that.

    Thank you

    George

  • Eating a 400g slab on a mountain top, miles away from toilet paper, was a brave move.

Had the consistancy of playdough. Which was awesome.

  • finally easing back into some miles, which should help a bit. Houston excluded

  • You played with the results of your brave food choice?

  • I neglected to check the consistancy after it had been 'processed'. Cant imagine it changed much.

I've been intensely hungry post training week. Which is to be expected. But other than a smidge extra protein. I havent eaten any extra calories. So I have slimmed slightly. As I'm injured (partially torn achilles). I'm going to concentrate on losing a bit more. Going to attempt to swim tonight. Hopefully I can do that without loading the tendon too much.

  • Have started using my fitnesspal to track my intake. Looks like portion size has been my biggest enemy, and by reigning that in my consumption of food has reduced pretty quickly. It seems to vastly overestimate calories used in exercise.

Would like to also incorporate 5:2 diet, but trying to find days where I don't have to ride any distance before teaching is difficult.

Back is still fucked, having to get an MRI to obtain proper diagnosis. So reducing food while relatively inactive is the only way to go. Have now lost a few lbs since my heaviest days after xmas.

  • Yes mfp seems 50-100% over actual calorie burn in the efforts I have logged.

  • You can link it to Strava for cycling, which brings the calorie estimates down. They're still high, but not as obscenely high.

  • Another 500g gone.

  • Beware Pod Seeded Granola Greek Yoghurt. Farkin 467cal chewed the fuck out of my allowance and still hungry. Hanging for lunch.
