Fällkniven and mora gets my thumbs up, the rest fall into the mall ninja category..

I also quite like the Ka Bar Becker and the ESEE for utility reasons.
The rest just gets really ninja-ey -

The Schrade would be cool if it wasn't called "Extreme terror talon death knife" or whatever.

Mora are great, use mine all the time.

Get a lansky delux knife sharpening set, easy to use.
-
• #736
which one did you get?
I have been looking at some online, most are 1000/4000 though.. -
• #737
I can recommend the lansky.
Get the basic one, and if the stones wear out replace them with the aftermarket diamond ones. -

These are 400/1000... £18 inc VAT from Nisbet's, got some training wedges from Denny's as well...

my knock-off edge pro thing turned up last night. after watching a few youtube videos last night, i am obviously a fucken expert now.
first of all - it was £$E20, so i wasn't expecting it to be the greatest piece of manufacturing. the stones were a bit bowed, screws tight, straight into the plastic, etc.
however, i did have a go at sharpening about 5 (shitty) knives and it does get them pretty fucking sharp. if you were a novice (like me until F**** C***, the other week), it will get them way sharper than you thought.
i would love to see how much better the real deal was. from the videos, it looks much more solid, better put together and easy to use than the moody one. i reckon the angle marker and the stones would be much more accurate, too. whether it is worth the couple of hundred bananas on top is your call.
i do now have the sharpest fucking ivory handled butter knife in south london now - i could almost shave with it.
if anyone wants a shot (of the xing-bow edge knife pro system, not the toast destroyer) - let me know.

Just need to treat the wood now. Not at all perfect shape, but it's a tool, wabi sabi etc.
