  • Out of interest were you able to go lower on the turbo than you could on the road?

  • Never tried low, but I had my saddle far too high. My front end is 25mm lower now that it was last time i used a turbo.

  • Just me then.

  • there is no adjustment on them (+1 for the Obree school of thought) its probably just me being being unfit I think but id like to calibrate them to a power crank or something at some point so i can use the power output tables

  • Set off on a 50min Sufferfest vid (A Very Dark Place), and I'm thinking 'this warm up is a bit much', then I'm thinking 'feck I cant hold 300w for this interval' then 'is this meant to be recovery?'

Eventually figured out trainerroad had the wrong resistance settings set up............just as I realised I'd punctured.

    Feck it all.

  • Harsh :-/

  • Meh.

    Its offically fatbike commuting weather.

I'll 20mins extra in 'the real world'.

  • Never mind. I'm doing a ftp test tomorrow; you can have a good laugh at that :-)

  • Great link, thanks for that. This is exactly what I was looking for, an explanation as to why riding slow can make you fast.

I'm guilty of usually pushing myself to ride as fast as I can and am looking forward to the challenge of riding slow this winter.

  • Come at me, Winter.

  • ^ Closet hipster.

  • cleanest looking winter drivetrain I've ever seen.

  • It only went on there yesterday + it's a dedicated turbobiek™

    Even in Norfolk, I'd never need a 56 x 11 top gear outdoors O.o

  • My turbo Wheel has 48mm deep carbon clincher rims*
Keep meaning to fit small lead Fishing weights to the spokes for moar flywheel effect.

    *Proper hipster.

  • string.length()

  • "I've spent decades paying hookers"

  • Here's a tip for any Computrainer users... if you're supposed to be doing x watts and you need to keep pushing the + button so resistance is now x+70W your tyre has just gone flat on the turbo (yeah, FML, on a turbo!!!) and you are wasting your time.

  • @miro_o

A lot of people try to carry summer fitness as far as they can. There is another way - detrain early (slowvember).

    Nice article, thanks for linking.

  • Well if I could maintain it for more than 12 Seconds maybe I wouldnt need to pay them.......groan.

Also. Last Nights turbo puncture was bought to you by a lightly used Conti gp4000s. Got it for free. Mounted it 2 days ago. The veloflex record it replaced had done thousands of kilometers on my 'Couldnt-give-a-shit' bike. /rant

  • Conti = shit. Fact.

  • I have a brand new tyre on the turbo bike (obvs not a Conti) - there's nothing in it. It ain't the tyre. I'm guessing the valve has separated or it's an old tube that has one of my trademark shitty puncture repairs. I'll have to have a closer look.

  • For the first time last night on TR I got to the point where I thought I was about to barf. Was doing "steele". Mentally signed myself up on one of their 11-week "plans" now - novice competitor, low volume.

  • Good work!

I did 2 hours of steady z2/3 and nearly died of boredom. I'm looking forward to January and picking the pace up a bit.

BTW - join the LFGSS trainerroad team if you haven't already.

  • the LFGSS trainerroad team

Is that exclusive, or can any old fat bastard join?

  • any old fat bastard
