Still haven't decided if I can face DD.
My thoughts are turning the same way, but mainly because I'll have just done a 20hr flight home two days before. In theory, the jet lag might work in my favour.

You could of course join me and ride half way there ...
Love DD

I'll join you on the ride out, of course, David.
Afterwards, I was thinking of perhaps riding to the CCH Road Race at Radwinter, to spectate for a bit before getting the train from Stansted or Saffron Walden. We'll most likely be a bit knackered by then, but some nice racing action shouldn't come amiss. :) Then again, I might just get in the van back to London. Not sure yet.

Excellent. Sounds like a plan Oliver...if we're not too tired...

I'm a newbie to the dynamo and forum rides. I'll be riding fixed , I'm assuming the majority of this list are? Glastonbury won't help my training though. What time are you all planning on heading off?
Last time I rode long distance fixed I was spitting bloody murder the entire time, so I'll be on gears. The masses usually start drifting away from about 8/9pm if memory serves (which it regularly doesn't).

Is it worth printing the route or is it fairly safe to just follow the masses?
I'm probably starting about half 8 ish -
• #386
if someone has a cheat sheet I wouldn't mind a copy to print, else ill just be following the flashing red trail XD
-
• #387
Route sheets are available at the start for a quid. Most of the nav is based on following the bike in front but that is a far from full-proof method, particularly towards the end when it's a bit more stretched out and sleep deprivation is messing with you.
The route is really only advisory, you can detour if you wish, we've often found a Garmin very useful for finding new and exciting variations.

• #388
Does anyone have a tcx or gpx file from when they got it mostly right? Haha.

Nice variation on 'foolproof'. :)

that cue sheet seems detailed enough too :)
-

^^^Hmmm, I'd always taken the phrase to be full-proof, even tho foolproof actually makes more sense. Semantically that is, in reality there is no such thing as fool proof as every time you try to proof something against fools they just make a better fool.
-
• #393
I really wouldn't want to try to navigate off the ridewithgps autogenerated queue sheet though. If you want a queue sheet, pick one up at the start.

It is the original sense, but 'full-proof' obviously works, too, albeit in a slightly different way. On the forum, it would naturally the preferred variation considering its faint evocation of alcoholic content.

Elevation profile is pretty good looking haha, I know everyone says it's fairly flat but it's nice to see the evidence. Thanks for the route Earthloop.

Anyone riding up from the south and want to meet up around Kingston before heading up to the start?
-
• #399
At the 148k mark the route goes past where I got married and about 200 yards my in-laws. They are picking me up from the beach to take for brunch and stick me on the train at Ipswich.
*must not be tempted with a detour to their house

I'll make sure to stop and throw some confetti
I'm selling some really nice lights here:

I also have some cheaper new boxed powerful light sets I will be listing shortly too PM me for more info.
Decent lights for the Dynamo!
