I must've just missed what look to be a decent single car prang on Uxbridge Road yesterday. People were outside the pub looking at others were cleaning up bits of car from the road. No emergency services. Guess it'd just happened.

Someone should make a film out of it.

Got 5 kids in the car, think I'll run a disabled over.

The quote from the Salon owner is flipping nuts. She seems to think a big fancy car smashing into her shop is what saved the kids' lives. Never mind that the massive car got out of control so easily ...

I was just thinking that "It was the big car that saved them" is a train of logic that passes Common Sense Town and terminates at What The Fuck Central.

Dunno if anyone read Life As a Widower? A driver lost control of his car, killed a young mum on the pavement. Her widower wrote a very moving blog.
84 year old driver finally charged with causing death by dangerous driving and assault, strangely:

I think that would be a really bad idea.

I read about it in the Guardian Family section a while back. A terrible tragedy.

Despite that, she has a good attitude in saying that it's very lucky there was only property damage and that it doesn't matter much.
The point about her logic in the other comment stands, of course.

Think she used the word 'mashed'

Agh, always bothers me how that sequence has led to so much media of rotated 3d space photos and the like. I remember the Blade Runner video game did it, too.
In the film he doesn't rotate the photo in 3d, he zooms into a reflection in a curved mirror.

On the Kingston crash, I've been chuckling over this line in the police text about it:
The car was subsequently in collision with a hairdresser's shop.

Anyone watching this road rage dross on ITV? Usual shit...

How - I mean seriously how does this take 18 painful months to get to the point that they decide there's a charge worth pursuing? You could reach that conclusion in days. Days!
Caveat: personal link to story. Doesn't affect my judgement though. This sucks.

Probably takes a while because it all ends in hopeless outcomes like the one described here:
http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/guy-sturdey-courier-walks-free-7225090
TL;DR Man drives Van into stationary traffic, kills one man. Results in twelve mo. driving ban and, wait for it, £60 'victim surcharge'.
Who would want to work on these cases?

'Judge Mary Jane Mowat described the incident as “truly tragic” and added: “A prison sentence would serve no purpose and would help no-one.”'
Wouldn't it? Wouldn't it go in some small way towards helping reduce the pervading sense that it's ok to allow your mind to wander so badly while piloting your metal weapon that you end the lives of anyone unfortunate enough to be in your way?

Yeah I agree. I also think a lifetime driving ban and a real fine would have a similar effect. They'd be harder to enforce but they'd be 'cheaper'.
Kingston road rage, again?
