  • email received, thanks David.

    getting excited now!

  • Me too. Love the cap, will have to get one.

  • .

  • nope, probably gonna ride the Surly

  • make sure you all say hello when you get to my control

  • .

  • I've been moved to the Great Dunmow control now.

  • Here's the cap - available on the day from LMNH for £10

  • It's pretty flat (1,425m total climb) if anyone wanted to go fixed I don't think it would be a big deal

  • I'll be there in team sky jersey with pal Olly on a red bike. Both geared.

  • Really looking forward to this, will be my first 200k Audax, only done 100's last couple of seasons. Will be riding solo on a red Mercian KOM

  • If anyone's not able to make this suddenly- give us a shout!
Otherwise, enjoy it you lucky people.
(Only just found out I'll be free).

  • Out of curiousity how hard or how fit do you have to be to ride 200km. I have only ever done 100km in a day, but can't contemplate doing double the distance.

  • Step it up, go and do 150k, see how you feel.

the key is to eat and drink at regular intervals. oh, and HTFU.

a well fitting bike and some sort of padding between your palms and the bars helps too.

  • Will have to build up to it, only managed a 100km for the first time a few weeks ago

  • Agree with this.

You'll definitely know if you've got a crap bike fit after sitting on it for 8 hours.

It will also become incredibly apparant either how good or how poor your clothing is you're wearing. In my case, the Steam Ride Audax - I was wearing a pair of Rapha Pro Bib shorts (RRP £150) - which turned out to be the WORST pair of bib shorts I've ever worn. Incredibly tight around the thighs to the point I was almost about to cut them. Promptly god rid of them after this.

Also, vibrations and the tape on your bike and the gloves you're wearing will all play a part - a really chatty bike and you'll start to regret it with another 2 hours to go, and having crap bar tape or no padding on your gloves - your hands start to get quite sore - especially if it's really hot weather..

  • Here's the garmin route if anyone wants it. I've been having problems getting it into my device... :$

  • Whoever you are.. every k over 100 hurts.
So is makes a little difference if you can do 150km you can do 200km
but if your always stopping when you hit 100 then its going to be a whole new experience.

  • DC and I are in. She'll be on the ti enigma fast biek with a dragon jersey. ill be on something talbot like. Say hello.

  • still in, I think but only just got home. will be setting off nearer to 8.30 I suspect - hopefully see some of you out there.
