Hey all, I was one of the main organisers/ route planners for The Great Escape Audax along with Shannonball. I can confirm that 78 people didn't show up and we had about 10 DNFs. Most of the DNFs let me know so it was cool.
I think next year we'll increase entry capacity and introduce on the day entries. We'll get the balance right with that eventually!! First year = overly cautious.
Glad to see most had a great ride. Get in touch with us if you have feedback to help the ride improve next year! It was our first year doing something like this, so we just want to make sure it keeps getting better. I just wish we could promise the amazing weather every year.....
Thanks all!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. We'll definitely look to offer more places next year.
I took the chance to ride it, too: 8hr 50min at an average moving speed of 18.3mph, which I'm pretty pleased with.
Great Dunmow was intended as info, became manned, but than that was not reflected on the brevet card. Receipt or stamp will be accepted.

Just wanted to say same thing - great ride, flapjacks at Great Dunmow in particular. Thank you for organising.

Got somthing interesting in the mail today that has left me slightly confused but always glad when it isnt the police, bailiffs or somthing worse.
It appears to be a completed stamp card from the great escape back in May.
I'm confused because I no-showed the event after getting a spot.Rider 42, Wave B start 08:04am
I'm guessing my place was recycled to someone more keen.
10hrs 18mins is an impressive time - you've done me proud!
but let me know if its you and i'll post the card to its rightful owner.
