I’d love to be involved. @LongAndWinding organised taggy cat, which was a bit more off an alley cat, as I recall we each went and got a tag, reconvened at LMNH and then had to go and find the others. We also did a few nighttime rides of our favourite tags and @oat44 and I did a ride incorporating some underground tags. Am sure there are lots of different ways of cutting it to make more socially distanced for those who’d prefer. Should we take it to another thread so as not to disturb the flow?

There’s been a notice to mariners saying that boats can pass underneath, but with the risk that the bridge may need to close again and boats will find themselves stranded on the other side

So so do think it’s worth talking to campaigning orgs who are looking at this - they will have greater leverage and legal support to recommend drafting changes.
From a quick google:

(There are contact details at the end)The views of the BCS in here are interesting, especially in regulation of user generated content. Worth contacting them to find out how they are planning to respond:

Yes, sorry - my final thought was that having a trusted stakeholder (representative body or similar) explain how badly drafted draft legislation was likely to have unintended consequences for the sector (and ideally, what would need to be done to rectify) can often be helpful as it helps officials to make the point that this is widespread, will be reported and gives them a solution . There must be some tech bodies that will be commenting for the sector.
@gillies - yes, you’re right. I suppose I’m saying that ministers often need to think that it will annoy people they care about (politically) or impact negatively in an unintended way on enough people that it will make life difficult. So you need the numbers or political sway.
-
I can’t comment on the legislation. The Impact assessment team will be relatively junior officials and at best will be aggregating data / info which will get swept up in some high-level advice to ministers. They won’t sway anything if ministers are minded to pursue, which is why the political route (that @Fox and others suggest) is vital. It’ll be political arguments and ministers being frightened by being bitten by politically difficult unintended consequences. Worth thinking through what those are and using them in any conversations you get with politicians (role of forum in supporting active travel, market place to enable people to sell without profit being creamed off, digital innovation ....). And make common cause with similar forums (I’m not saying fora, sorry Oliver)
The best way to influence a minister is if they think their constituents will be upset or if backbenchers are likely to be concerned. So finding a sympathetic Tory mp would be helpful.
I have a few more thoughts, that I’ll post later

Barnes Bridge Ladies - I’m inferring that that may not be the club for you! We share a boathouse with Cygnet who are lovely guys and super friendly - may not be the most high performance club in the river but that might be ok if you’re time constrained and looking for leisure rather than rowing at Henley

Oh no! I’ve fallen in more times than I care to remember. Self rescue is impressive. I’m itching to get my single off the rack but it’s been so long and I’m nervous I’ve forgotten. Went out in an 8 the other morning with a load of people I’ve been rowing with on and off for YEARS and though we weren’t speedy it was smooth as silk.

On fit, I wouldn’t assume women’s geo unless it actually fits her. As I understand women’s groups assumes proportionally shorter arms / body and longer legs (am sure someone will be here soon to correct me and /or explain all about stack and reach ). That’s not me at all and none of my bikes have had women’s geo. Also, be prepared to spend a bit more on top to get a properly comfortable / fitting saddle (and definitely worth getting sit bones measured when it becomes possible).

The house looks quite ‘lived in’ now, which is what made me think it was still the original family. I may be wrong but I don’t think they’ve gone slick minimalism inside. I’d v happily live in one of the town houses next door

Excellent. Not sure I need to give more detail on the house as all you modernist design fiends have all clearly been looking at the listing on the Modern House.
There are loads of domestic modernist classics scattered round there and over into Highgate and Belsize Park - we’ve been using Stefi Orazi’s ‘Perambulations’ as a guide to explore - might be a good niche BToB ride one day!

Thank you @Oliver Schick for setting it up so nicely for me!
