I used to love the rush of going in there to see if they'd put up our latest abuse. I don't think we ever fessed up so I remember using side eye to spy the notices and trying to hold back the joy at seeing the letters pinned to the wall.
And I got an A at GCSE Maths, so obviously it was rhe right thing to do.
@Alf0nse what's the name of the record shop that was in Gloucester Green near cult clothing? Was mentioned up thread and I can't remember the name and it's bugging me.

@Brommers Another vote from me for not getting a 100+bhp bike as your first bike.
I'm about 18 months ahead of you, in that I passed my test as a novice Feb 2023 via Direct Access and thought I'd be OK on a high power bike that I could "grow into" (a Duke 890 in my case). Coz I'm 50 and sensible enough not to be reckless.
Without boring you to tears, the plan worked out for a few months and I was enjoying the bike, but one day the whole thing suddenly scared the life out of me. It wasn't even an overcooked corner or anything life threatening, it was just a bit of sidewind at speed on a dual carriageway. But the bike just felt like a scary place to be and I couldn't shake it.
I didn't want to give up entirely as when it was good I loved it, so dropped back down to a CRF300L which gave me a lot more confidence than the 890 and the chance to work on the basics and improve my motorcycle "muscle memory".I'm now on an RC390 A2 compliant bike and absolutely loving it. It's still plenty quick enough for me and much more fun to occasionally wring it's neck (when it's safe to do so) than to be constantly babying the throttle on a bigger bike.
I have a friend who went to a 650 as first bike and another who went straight to a 1250GS and both seem happy and haven't had my experience, but as others have said, no amount of fast car experience or (in my case) decades of riding push bikes can prepare you for motorcycling. It's something else, and that's what makes it so fun.
But I've lost thousands of £££s I could ill afford to lose buying the wrong bike initially so thought I'd share my sorry tale. Good luck with your DA, and have fun.

Seems like we'll be stuck with the vile stench of the spluttering Tugboat in my constituency (Tugendhat). Thinking that so many of my neighbours could still vote for this shape shifting reptile (and his party) is enough to make me consider moving. Preferably abroad.
Might have to swallow my earnest principles and not vote Green in favour of Labour. I hate that our system makes you vote negatively for what you don't want rather than positively for want you actually want. -

Another vote for "knock and run" from a south Abingdon perspective @TooTallTim @Alf0nse
Tithe Farm was rife with it. -

The fucking Tory's obsession with the Rwanda farce is mind boggling.
How can anyone think that implementing this demented and massively expensive "solution" will deter any poor desparate souls from attempting to reach our shores? There's only space for 100 people in Rwanda so about 1/10th of a summer's days crossings.
These people are risking their lives getting in the dinghies. The euro millions winning odds of being one of the 100 to go to Rwanda will be the last thing on their minds. Ever.
Obviously it's all a distraction from all the sinister shit they're pulling on a daily basis including the fact that they've entirely created the immigration "problem" in the first place.
But why can't even the most eager of red meat recipients see that this scheme won't work and is a massive smoke screen and trojan horse to further diminish our rights? And given that it's a massive political embarrassment that is imploding the party in front of all who looks on, why do they continue to pursue what is clearly a self destruct button?
I'm just sick to death of this lunatic bunch of greedy clowns destroying all that's good about this country whilst the average person struggles to feed themselves.
Sorry, bad day and needed to vent.

Someone must be selling something half decent with ULEZ expansion imminent?
Needed for my son. He's only 18 so nothing fast or too sporty, just something practical and not too small as he's a tall lad.
His budget isn't enormous, but we're not looking for immaculate or low mileage particularly. But ideally with a half decent MOT remaining and a reliable runner.
DM me if you're looking to shift something that might fit the bill. Ta.

I really like it. It's fantastic. And if I lived somewhere with more access to byways (like where I rode my gravel bike at the weekend, which had byways everywhere you looked) then I'd keep it. But in reality, where I live, it will only be used on the roads. So I started looking at a few upgrades for it, mainly suspension as the bike is just as softly sprung as all the reviews suggest.
I concluded that by the time I've spent the money on a Rally Raid suspension upgrade for it, I'm a long way towards the difference to p/x'ing it to something with better suspension in stock form.
I test rode the SMC and really noticed the difference of the better damped suspension. It just felt better suited to riding the lanes and back roads I enjoy riding. But the brakes were also better and the improved handling of the 17" road focused wheels/tyres also was hard to ignore.
So it's a lovely bike and if I had bottomless pockets I'd keep it and get the SMC too, but in the real world, I can't afford 2 motorbikes.

I absolutely love my CRF300L. It's really got me enjoying motorcycling. This may sound counterintuitive but I'm enjoying it so much I'm already looking to upgrade to something else.
Anyway, long story short, the dealer I bought it from has offered to buy it back from me as they know its in great condition. They've offered me £4350 for it which is obviously less than I paid for it, but it's been worth the £500 I'd lose on it to reinvigorate my enjoyment of motorbikes.
If you wanted one without the dealer mark up, then I'd happily sell it at the price they've offered to buy it at (I'm not PXing with them btw).
It's a 71 plate, so still less than 2 years old, 3400 on the clock. Extras wise, it has a small rack on the back, an Acerbis skid plate fitted, a tail tidy and Oxford heated grips. It's very clean and rides great.
I'm based near Maidstone, not sure where you are obvs. Mileage may increase slightly as I'm using it still.
2 keys, full Honda service history etc. I've been averaging over 100mpg!
Here's a couple of pics. DM me it you want more pics or info.
Cheers, Damian.

On paper the seat height is 880mm. I had discounted them as an option based on this measurement as I wanted a bike I could comfortably flat foot for confidence reasons. Due to their scarcity I hadn't been able to even sit on one - my local Honda dealer had one in the showroom but it was sold so no sitting allowed.
So I set about test riding some bikes with seat heights in and around 800mm instead. Nothing "clicked" but a motorbike trader I went to for a test of an SV650 had this 2nd hand CRF300L available. I asked if I could take it for a short spin round the block (mainly as I expected it to be too tall but I was curious to know how it rode) and I found that due to the famously soft suspension I could flat foot it and it didn't feel intimidating at all. In fact the opposite, it felt so confidence inspiring due to it's low weight and manoeuvrability.
Knew immediately that I'd found what I was looking for. I'm about 12 stone and for me I'm happy with the suspension for now. Yes it's fairly active, but I'm enjoying the way it rides. Perhaps when I take it off road properly I might want more damping and control from the suspension. But for now I'm very happy with the whole thing. If I upgrade it further down the line, then I'd probably get a Rally Raid level 1 set up as this decreases the travel slightly so I believe offers a seat height similar to that offered by the sag in the OEM suspension.
The Rally has a bigger fuel tank, more fairings for a bit more wind protection, better headlights, a wind shield and a slightly bigger front brake disc. Probably better if you want to do longer rides with some adventure/touring in mind.

I'm not hugely experienced but test rode quite a few bikes before I tried the CRF300L. And immediately got that "click" you're talking about. Just knew immediately I'd enjoy riding it.
If you're a more experienced rider it might not give you the thrill of a more powerful bike, but for me it's great fun round the local twisty, potholed, gravelly lanes. And would be capable on the BOATs.
Plus the servicing schedule is measured in thousands of miles, not hours. Can recommend.

Any interest in this UK44 RST Sabre airbag leather jacket?
I bought it new in late Jan 23 but it's had very little use for one reason or another.
It comes with a removable thermal layer that zips in or out. I'm considering replacing it with a more "adventure" jacket, but will get one with the same airbag system, so I'll supply a brand new In&Box control module with this jacket and keep my current one as its already registered to my account. You'll need to sign up to a subscription with In&Motion for the airbag to be activated. It costs me £12 a month btw. And I can refer you as a new subscriber and we'd both get 3 months FOC.
It's a snug fit, suited to sportsbike use.
£250 posted (UK)? Any questions, please ask.
Also got some RST leather jeans with built in knee protection (32" waist, short leg) that zip into the jacket that I'll probably move on too if any interest in those...?
I've been mulling over selling this. 1x Rival. Hope Pro2 hubs on Mavic Open Pro tubeless disc rims. Chainring and tyres set up for road, but it's a gravel bike at heart with clearance for appropriate tyres.
It's a medium/525mm with a 546mm effective top tube. PM me if you're interested to know more.
