Just trying to gauge how in pain I'll be next weekend, sorry for lack of skid!
-
• #83
No probs I never know what else to say!
“Hey person I did a ride with once or twice when that fella eco bear was still here” -
• #84
That’s only me at weekends
I keep the ‘d’ for more formal, midweek occasions

I don’t think I’m going to be able to make it for the after-ride drinks. I’ll do a recce in Staines tomorrow night after work and see what the situation is with the brewery moving.
-
• #86
I didn’t realise you kept separate identities

Train line collapsed in Hook today didn’t it. Of course. Great. Even did a big ride today in prep. Can’t get to this now. Out. Crying.
-
• #88
You just need to get the train from Reading instead.
-
• #89
Oof, that sucks. Looks like it's going to be awkward for trains for you 😔

Oof it's been a week. Anyway.
@jaeyukdapbap shit! Proper fucked. I was really looking forward to seeing you - will do it soon.
@Jonny69 I appreciate the venue recce. Let me know what shakes out and I'll plan accordingly.
Obviously @Thuekr that's so fucking rad they do a local HDIJ. Give those guys huge kudos from me.
Otherwise things shaping up pretty good.
Conditions seem to be all over the shop at the moment, but looks like we'll be having some Weather no matter so will keep an eye on things. Who doesn't love planning an outfit?Group looks solid atm. Excite

Wear and tear, road rash and bruises only so fingers remain crossed -

Brewery was closed last night but it looked like they were still in the premises down by the river. The new premises looked like was still vacant.
I say head down there and risk it. If they’re closed, just cross the bridge and go to the Swan instead. It’s directly on the other side of the river.

youramericanlover in reply to @clubman
@clubman I love this idea. I have previously had a few false starts with the same idea but it didn't take off. I'd start this right now to be honest it but I'm outside London now and so most of the important admin (and more importantly riding) I wouldn't be able to make. This (above) is part of YAL's reply to my post suggesting an HDiJ CC (post 41 in this thread).
A club needs at least one person to be active in promoting the club and its activities. The obvious people to do this are YAL and me, but YAL is too far away and I'm really too old.
In my case, although I'm still actively riding, I'm no longer really up to the sort of efforts that I hope the club would exist to promote. So far as admin is concerned, I just haven't enough energy to take on a big new commitment, although it's hard to say how much trouble would be involved.
However if some one else is prepared to take the main job on, I'd be very pleased to help where I could.
I know the word committee is not really an 'approved' word on this forum, but all the same if we said the after ride beers on Saturday is also the first committee meeting of the HDiJ CC that might be a useful start and wouldn't really involve any serious commitment.
Anyway I hope to see you on Saturday. I'll bring a track pump, a pair of spare wheels and some tools.
If there's anything specific you think I should have with me, let me know. -

I have to be near Rickmansworth before 19:00. Is there a hassle if I join in till lunch, then take my leave?

@LWaB not a problem, very happy for you to join until you need dash. Just please make sure you know your way back from whereever you leave and you've got what you need to be self-sufficient.
This does lead me nicely into the next bit, which is the weather, the route, and the group. It's going to be pretty damn cold (though hopefully dry) so please give your bike a check over and make sure it's working properly and that you have the tools on the day you need to fix your shit if it punctures/breaks. Fun rides turn a lot less fun when we start standing freezing our asses off for something basic / avoidable. Like I've said in the past being self-sufficient is both important for you but it's also a way of looking after your fellow riders. We'll look after each other as much as possible but there has been the odd time where someone has to break off and/or abandon. But I'll make sure we look after each other as much as possible with the needs of the group in mind as well.
Speaking of being damn cold unless the weather report drastically changes we'll assemble at the same time and make a call on the spot if it needs to be delayed / called etc. I'm also going to do a little route adjustments and make sure we're not doing any extra-agricultural type lanes. I would rather roll out on the busier in town roads for the first hour or so in the am than spend longer in the dark on the way home.
@clubman I'll drop you a line soon and we'll chat this out. Some interesting ideas and I do think there is some will for a proper fixie crew
I should say there will be a spokecard. I'm obviously stuck in 2011 but this shouldn't be news to any of you
