I'll have it in time, but need to sort out a few bits & bobs up here in Norfolk first.

You could just catch the train ;-)

H(eal)tfu soon. At least you have a trail-worthy bike now!
-
• #88
Me too!

Thanks. Haven't got the bike just yet, all down to my brother to go and pick it up. Just shows you that if you get rid of one bike another soon appears.

I am excite for this, but oh my god getting to Chingford and back from Norwich can do one.

Ride there? Lea bridge road out to whipps cross and then follow the singletrack north to rangers road. Happy to lead for this bit if anyone wants to meet in Hackney.
Edit: oh sorry Norwich is probably a bit far to ride! Offer still stands for Londoners.

If I can find a place to stay before/after I'll definitely take you up on that! Much easier/cheaper to get to and from London outside of Saturday

Took the Lurcher out for the first time since the last Epping outing, both the bottom braket and non-drive side pedal are making some terrible noises.
Getting the excuses in nice and early ;)

The BB and pedal are fine, Mick.
It's the crabon making all the weird noises.
-
• #95
That's nothing! There's a sticky pawl spring in the rear hub which means occasionally the pedals will jump forward in the revolution and when they stop it makes an almighty whack, which is further amplified by the large diameter tubes, for the first few weeks I was sure it was a crack in the frame!

Done it once already, going to quickly fix it next week and start building up a new wheel. Got one of the old PlanetX/Woodman/Novatech hubs kicking around.
-

I've been using one of those hubs on my town bike for the past year. They seem pretty good value and easy to look after.
-
• #99
Indeed! And it's surprisingly hard to find a SS disc hub that doesn't have a really wide freehub body!

Yes, about 2-3 sprockets wide, as opposed to 5-6 that you get on Hope, Chris King, DT etc
Still I like my Hopes and they give me a non-dished wheel, which is the main thing I wanted.
That works for me!
