Currently the 4th most read news story on the BBC website after covid, some dead ponies, and brexit...

BUT WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?
Maybe there are bills to be paid and that burnt cash would have come in handy

• #109
Maybe just one Bill

Maybe if they release some physical product, otherwise the streaming payouts won’t cover jack.
-

The tracks are licensed to Domino records, so they must have got a decent advance.
-
• #112
Hopefully domino will get on the physical release case then. Good times.

I’d be well up for this ride if the world ever goes back to normal and if anyone wants to do it again.
There was talk on another forum that someone has recently re-registered the Ford Timelord, the one that sat rotting outside Trancentral for years and eventually got bangered.

It's not important but I had a copy of the very much deleted and ABBA annoying 1987 (What the Fuck Is Going On) LP which was worth a bit of cash at the time, especially as cash was not what I had, but I left it on the tube one day in 1988. It wasn't worth a million quid but still, always seemed an inadvertent JAMM's-like gesture. And looking around today I discovered I've also lost the Chill Out vinyl LP somewhere over the years so there's a theme of Drummond/Cauty loss running through my life though I need no sympathy, thanks all the same.

I was DJing in a pub in soho with some friends. Why the fuck a pub had us banging out techno in an almost empty room was beyond me. There was a group of women who weren’t enjoying anything we were playing and I got asked if we had “you know, anything good like Michael Jackson or ABBA.” I had my copy of 1987 with me and I’ll never forget the look of anger and disdain when the Scottish rapping started, possibly a drink got thrown and the venue emptied by 50% as the ladies left.

Kingsland Road graffiti done by Jimmy the night before the songs went up on Spotify. Another venue for a re-run of the forum ride that I sadly couldn’t make the first time. Well up for it if it happens again.

Thats a nice story @dancing james and frankly I feel some sympathy with those Soho ladies. Whatever else it might have been 1987 (RiP) was not a particularly listenable record nor even a very good one but that was probably half the point. Poor Whitney Houston was massacred on it too if I remember correctly.

I’m envious @dancing james got to dj in a venue where 1987 was a potential record to play. I still listen to my US import and although it’s by no means a ‘dance’ record, in terms of innovative sampling, it’s up there with Pump Up the Volume. And Scottish rapping sounds ace.

Defo on for a revisit of the forum ride when safe. Just need to work out some significant date options and need to pre-plan where to bury the ashes. Parliament Square was quite tricky as it turns out.

For a short time only, please don’t share the link elsewhere

Chill Out on Spotify!
Also - even better, it’s not the original Chill Out but a mix of that and some new ambient sounds, including lots of nods to their other work.
My favourite album.

Nice one! Now playing. Now if only they'd release a physical version...
One day I'm going to remember to take a photo of the 2K locker, that's been there for 20 years.
