  • Wait how is everyone pronouncing Minute? I went to tell a friend about it IRL and didn’t know what to say. I think I say my-newt in my head.

  • Minute as in 60 in an hour...

  • Shit you’re better than me

  • 1 under

took the middle letter than kicked myself.

  • 2 under, but had to stop and think about it.

  • 3 under. Nice this morning. Continuing a one and done streak, but I do also love full cryptics, especially the Saturday jumbo in a paper that I wish wasn’t the paper it was in.
Recently I found that that papers method of naming the crossword link might be freely accessible :
You essentially need the base link
    feeds.thetimes.co.uk/puzzles/crossword/
Then the date in year/month/day format
Then the identifier (which is linear to the date)
    Then crossword- date-identifier.pdf

    e.g. for today- crossword/20240926/55560/crossword-20240926-55560.pdf

Should get you to the quick cryptic.

There are three or four different crosswords per day, and so you might need a bit of trial and error to select the best one.

  • Argh

    Par.

I knew what the clue meant and what letter needed to be added in, but I just couldn't get my head to come to the conclusion

  • 2 under after synonym search

  • i loved yesterdays.

  • Completely failed yesterday, but 3 under today

  • What was the answer? Gave it a quick look and didn't get very far, can't remember what the clue was now anyway and doesn't seem to be a way to look at old ones?

  • today can fuck off.

  • Segments follows response to comedy.

    my thinking:
    take the hint
well you laugh after comedy/jokes etc so it's got to be something after laugh.

segments : pie charts, pie, bits.
    bit
    the words ends in bit/bits.

    laughbits
    laubits
    oh
    ha bits

    ha

  • OK makes sense, kind of - can't see where in the clue is the element that is a synonym for the answer, may be being stupid! Thanks, though :)

  • Full clue was ‘Segments follows response to comedy routine’, with routine as the definition

  • Aha! Now it all falls into place :D

  • My memory. It's not so. What's the word i'm looking for?

  • 2 under

  • 1 over. Meh.

  • Par

  • Par

  • Took the hint then kicked myself as it was exactly what I thought it would be. 1 under.

  • 2 under today

  • Piece of Cake (mild spoiler) I spent a couple of seconds trying to come up with a five letter synonym for 'story' from which I could remove a T and insert an R. Yeah, I was overthinking it.
  • Damn I forgot yesterday and lost my streak, think I was nearly at -50
