Now, I don't mean to be a minute cryptic dickhead, but I've found some recent clues a little too, erm, not exactly easy, but, erm, unambiguous. Today's is a good example. There's no ambiguity - for someone with a bit of crossword experience - about how words 3 and 4 need to be worked out, nor how words 6, 7 and 8 should be resolved.
I think the best clues leave some doubt about which words are definition, which are mechanics etc, and MC doesn't always manage this.
