Yeah I laser engraved/etched caps, unfortunately I’ve not gone back to the fab lab where the laser was since covid. Not even sure they opened back up to public.

Thanks all. Will mull it over.
In the meantime, Andy Stevenson doesn't hang about, the Stooge Motos landed this morning, having ordered them 48 hours ago, and first impressions are great.
110mm length is right, and the reach is dialled. On that basis, I've gone for a black Simworks Rhonda as a permanent stem. My thinking:
- Tigged steel, like the frame;
- OD should match these Blue Lug brass spacers from my toolbox;
- 10deg negative rise, going by Instagram hashtag searches, should give a ~horizontal side profile;
- Shipping from Circles was weirdly reasonable (wonder if they forgot to deactivate the half price international shipping offer they had on in Jan?) and typically no customs.
And I've decided to bin off trimming the hoses myself, will take it to a bike shop at the same time as having the steerer cut...

Give Pi at Clandestine cycles a shout, does a very nice brass top cap, may do engraving, may not, worth an ask though.

Despite owning one of Pi's bikes I didn't think to ask him, lol. Have dropped him an e-mail.

Imo the brass spacers are a bit too much with the fluor rack and pink headset
-
• #236
Yeh there's a lot going on there. I'm minded to trust 'tina to work its magic and/or go back to my original plan of only installing the rack for my thrice-a-year overnighters where the bag actually needs support. For 97% of my rides, there's tons of headtube for a Mini Shazam to sit without support or -- gasp -- no bag at all!!!

Shifter mount...?

Yep, it's a Riv Silver 2 friction shifter next to the (hydraulic) brake lever.

Just installed this beaut of a quill stem on the Overbury’s, raising the bars by 4cms in the process. Sublime craft from August Bicycles. Now to sort the cables..

The RH tyres weren’t vibing with me, I think a combination of the busy tan walls and modest actual width (~52mm on 23mm internal rims).
These Contis aren’t as “supple” — insofar as they don’t collapse under their own weight — but were easy enough to mount, align with euro vibes and measure ~56mm. And I dunno, seem better suited.

"you hear da' has messaged our mp the other week? says he's 'politically homeless'?"
"ahah, what, he's suddenly an activist?"
"i'm worried about him, has put this 'FBPE' sticker on the quashqai and people keep beeping at us outside marks and spencers, he's been talking about his irish? spanish? heritage and is applying for a passport..."
a bang is heard as the door to the garden office is seemingly slammed, and a muffled sound of "JUHRUOOMY CROOOMBLYNSSS!!!" just about makes it throug the tripple glazing
"he's been doing that a lot too"

Kickstand has arrived, waiting on a M10 x 25mm bolt to use instead of the 50mm it came with (meant for bikes without a dedicated plate). I’ll also add some newbaums to the kickstand where it contacts the plate.

Nice! That's a familiar kick stand for me, they must have been making these for ages.
Tyres look nice and plush:) good choice on going all black I reckon -

Solid tyres these, good choice

Thank you both, much appreciated. Can’t go wrong with the basic Pletscher, if it ain’t broke…
Here’s the unsupported Mini Shazam, looks great, though even that is OTT for most of my rides where an Outer Shell rolltop saddle bag with puncture repair gubbins are enough. I do wonder what gravel bros actually store in their Fab’s Chests…

Does anyone here know who might be able to make a custom top cap for this build? The ones on Etsy don't quite hit the mark in terms of quality and finish and I'm guessing people like Bentley Components would need a large minimum order size.
Ideally brass, featuring the final two lines of one of Professor Refaat Alareer's poems that I've committed to memory in his honour.
The words let it bring hope following a semi-circular arc on the top half (just like Strid's top cap, but larger font), and let it be a tale following the same arc but on the bottom.
I guess either stamped or laser engraved or something..
