  • Ah cool, might give that a shot!

  • Well of course! Trying to figure out how to get some LFGSS shoutouts on it, tastefully, somehow.

  • Ah you should join him and build it up together. So satisfying to do it yourself, and therapeutic.

  • We are in different cities, so not that straightforward. He’s a mechanic, I’m busy/recovering from a head injury after snapping my last bike - sometimes it’s better to outsource these things lol.

  • take driveside pictures from further away so the handlebars perspective looks less weird.

Okay so this is what I've been doing wrong for 8 years.

  • Also turn the front wheel slightly towards the camera so that you can hide the left shifter behind the right.
Edit: not the perfect example as you can still see it a bit

  • question on bike related photography purism. why is it de rigueur to have the valves at 6pm so that the tyre logo's are generally upside down?

@nef build is looking sweet! hope the recovery is going well.

  • Good question. I wouldn't mind them at 12 o'clock or to have the tyre logos opposite the valves, but I just take the pictures man, I don't make the rules

  • What's the headset?

  • Cane Creek Forty looks like

  • I remember @roboto (RIP) did a good lesson on this ages ago

  • This is the tip I've been missing

@amey is Roboto gone gone? I messaged him about something he dibs long ago

  • Tantalisingly close now.

  • That is rather splendid.

  • Nice! This looks excellent. I think non tan wall tyres was a good shout, all matchy with the saddle/bar tape/levers.

  • It does irritate me a touch that the levers are black. But I still think they look better than the wacky TRPs.

  • Very nice, would ride.

  • what a beaut!

  • So hurrah, I managed to get back on a bike today for the first time after the crash.
I actually crashed scoping out my new commute - a hilly 15 mile route - so it was nice to go and do it trouble free today. The worst climb has sections of 14%. I rode it on my road bike today, but obviously I'm keen to ride it on this new build (as this is what it's intended purpose is). The build currently runs 49x19 which is about 70 gear inches and I flat out won't manage that on the steep hills. Is running 42x19 at 60GI going to be annoyingly spinny? Otherwise I'll go for 44x19 at about 63 gear inches.
This is a bit of a silly question and obviously subjective, but any thoughts?

  • Well, that's fairly conclusively answered.

  • New classic style Allday commuter build. Pretty happy, chain guard was a pig to fit

  • Bravo! That is a classy build! Lovely details - and you're making me want one of those VO stems, looks bang on.

  • Thanks. Sorry to hijack! All days build up nicely

  • Nah not at all, love to see how others have built theirs up. Picking mine up on friday, rather excited!
