It’s been said before but “Politicians are all just the same though”, as well as being evidently false, is such weak sauce and just leads to “there’s no pint in voting” and the status quo.

I wish I got a pint for voting...

They won't go back to the members for an 8 weeks campaign again will they

Cameron did push through equal marriage against the wishes of most of the party. It was just about the only thing he could find to be proud of in the recent BBC doc.

You realise I was being ironic right?
Referring to this:
https://www.lfgss.com/comments/16728482/That was 10 hours and a lot of posts ago to be fair.

Now that’s a vote I’d vote for

Sorry, I didn’t!!!
But 10 hours was an absolute lifetime ago given what’s happened/happening. No excuse for my self righteous, po faced response though (which I stand by, obvs)

Downing Street has decided it was a confidence vote after all which seems to have been required to stop the whips resigning.
-

It’s fully mental.
Let’s stop 2 whips resigning by ousting 30+ mps
Surely we’re nearly at VONC winning levels?

I'm not so sure that emotions will have simmered down overnight. I think more parts of the clown car are going to shake off today.

We're heading rapidly towards constitutional crisis territory. It's clear no Conservative MP can command a majority in the Commons, so at some point the King is going to have to step in and demand a General Election.
Which would be a nice, gentle introduction to learning how the monarchy and politics aren't met to overlap for Charles.

Looks like they are saying any one who voted against without a reasonable excuse will be appropriately punished, wonder if anyone will actually get kicked out
-
• #893
Right now, appropriate punishment is probably a cabinet position.

Well I didn't know Grant Shapps was Jewish but I do now.

Blooming heck. A Tweet full of text screen grabs with Alt Text! There is hope!

I’m still unsure the approval ratings translate to seats.
I can’t see how people like my Dad who have always voted conservative are going to take this to change their ways? Maybe it accounts for that but I’m dubious. -

Braverman loves a bit of dog whistle anti semitism, that right wing kind that nobody gives a shit about.

Those posts are clear evidence that bullshit is being coordinated and directed by someone.
Actually @kl John Major has quite a few redeeming features.
Alastair Campbell described him as "piece of lettuce that passes for prime minister" which in light of current events seems a bit unfair.
