  • I forget you’re 18foot tall, it must have looked like you were on a Brompton.

  • ❤️ Lovely stuff thanks x

  • I’ve been playing with the Pathfinders again. A long John won’t work the box just wouldn’t be long enough. So back to plan A Bäckerrad, makes more sense and is easier to build (I hope!) I don’t think I’ll use any of the folder tbh, but it’s great for mocking up ideas.

  • Also in the garage of havoc.
The new Ragley cockpit arrived from Giggle. Bars, stem and grips for £8 how could I not?
Green cables, cable ends and pads are on order from evilbay, as are some green Trek stickers.
Still need to find some green SS spacers though.

  • I think I’m going to flat bar the Kish. I was meant to be a city bike when it was built, but was turned into a drop bar bike. I bought it knowing this and have lived with the fact it’s slightly too long and the bars are too wide for long enough. I’ll try this set up and see if I like it before I get some Soma Noah’s Arc bars and some nice levers and grips. Who knows I may hate it? But a little sit on it earlier has me thinking I should be good.

  • Obviously I need to flip the stem and fit some flat pedals, it’s not a race bike!

  • Looks good with the flat bars, before you go and buy the Somas, we have a pair of these in spares bin you can trial/have for not too many ££

  • Awesome you know me, I’m all about the cheap ;) I’ll be in touch.

  • More playing with stuff.
With a bit of jiggy pokie I think 32c will just clear. Need to rebuild the Phil wheelset now as well, but yeah I’m liking it so far

    A bit more for you

  • Ooh! That’s good.

  • Liz and I rode to the cafe this lunchtime. She took the Gazelle I rode the MonsterShopper™️ but had to bleed the brakes as they had nothing not an ounce of bite. They still howl like fuck, but they stop pretty quickly now. I need some better pedles, but the 18 miles were super fun and chilled.

  • Finally found time to put the repaired fork back on the Mystery Machine and take it out for a spin. So that was worth cleaning it then!!
Once again a massive thank you to @RunRabbitRun (August bikes) for the amazing job they’ve done. It once again rides like a new bike, not too shabby considering it’s now 73.

  • Well that’s a firm no to the 700x32c then. 28s it is :(

  • In other news.
    The Wankster rides surprisingly OK with the stupid front end;
    Cotic (wrong side) disc fork,
    Found front wheel and disc,
    Tektro brake.
    Tyres?
Specialized Sawtooth 700x42c on the front 700x30c Vit Zaffiro at the rear.

  • This is after I’ve given away, sold and thrown stuff out. Oh and this is just one of the dumping grounds.

  • Wow!
Who know changing a fork cause such a ruckus?
    I rode the Wankster to work on Friday and was stopped by another bike commuter at the bike shed. He openly laughed at me a said that as I used to be a bike mechanic he thought much better of me. Why? Because;
You’ve got the forks on backwards,
They are far too long and make the handling dangerous,
The stresses of a disc brake are too great for the frame.
    I just replied oh ok.
    Where to start?
    Cotic RH side brake fork.
The longer fork gives almost the same headtube/seat tube angles as their Sondor gravel bike. The handling has change, but it’s fine.
I think the welds on 1 1/8 Ali bike are up to the job.

  • Well the Wankster™️ has changed again. The Cotic fork has been moved on to a different more fitting bike. So I’ve put the standard fork back on and fitted a Basil Portland rack. It fits really well and is surprisingly solid. While I was at it I put another DIY light mount on. This time a fetching Genesis/hope one v posh ;) I have also found and squirrelled away a pot of paint for the frame. You’ll have to wait to see the colour.

  • Excellent name change but just how many vehicles do you have in that garage? 🤔

  • Fear not the Skodaghini is not mine!

  • What a shame! Really liked the Wankster with the disc fork.
Looked very utilitarian in a very good way and gave it space for big tyres.. I would've put mudguards on though.
I vote bring back the cotic fork!

I use offcuts from forks for light mounts. Bonus when a star nut has already been installed. But that spacer and top cap(s?) looks much better. I just don't want to waste em on that!

  • They would have stayed if I could have squeezed a bigger tyre out back, but I managed to flat the 30c a couple of times forgetting about their limitations. They will ride again though.

  • To chop or not to chop that is the question.
30c tyres fit width wise, but it’s awful close height wise and the wheel is right at the end of the dropouts as well.
