Please consider a Wordle-themed header to commemorate the Big Bang, the One Bang, the UniBang achieved by ElGonzo. You could simply change a few letters to green?

This was arguably a harder challenge – certainly psychologically, as we have all been suffering for weeks now – than Tao winning that Giro when no-one showed up. (Full respect, Tao, if you’re reading this. I like to think you would Wordle.)

Kudos for varying your starter word like a true champion would, unlike the AVG Crew hedging with gross vowel hogs.

I did not even know there was a Wordle thread on here.

Better than the daily stats are the aggregate stats...

Oh my. Came to post my pathetic 5 bang (won’t bother now) and find these amazing scenes. This needs to go in the forum book.

5 for me too. I feel well and truly put in my place by VB’s aggregate stats… I’m a noob and thought I was doing well on an 8 day streak, but 50% of my wins have taken 5 goes :(

I quite like taking a look at the progression of other Wordles.

I'm afraid I'm doing the boring thing of using statistics to have a killer first word that ticks off most common vowels and consonants in their most common positions in 5-letter words, and then I have a rough decision tree that seeks out the next word based on what I've seen to expose the remaining vowels and next most likely consonants.

My starter word that I've settled on is SOARE - a young hawk. But then... my 1 guess win of ACUTE was me experimenting with vowel heavy words, so perhaps I should shake it up again.

I'm pretty good at getting them in 3 guesses now, including today's which looked like this...

Nice, quite a few twos in there as well. I think it was Saffronspokes who said there's more merit/skill to a well thought out 3 or 4 and I agree. I've had a few 3s that I've got in about 30 seconds and there's very little satisfaction to that, they were just luck. I'd much rather go with random opener and then deduce it, if it's a 4 or 5 so be it. Well worked out 3s are peak Wordling IMO.
