this is nice apart from the weird groupset attached to it. could make it into HHSB otherwise.
i have hoops's super X to build first ! -

Oooh I like a Super X, shame they didn’t build them in XL

So long as they are "made in the EU" they qualify under the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the UK and the EU and are exempt from import duty.
You will pay 20% UK VAT on both the frame and delivery cost plus potentially a small handling fee from the courier.
They shouldn't charge you German VAT but that all depends on how they are set up for exports.

Ah nice, cheers. The only frameset they have in 58 is the aubergine one. I’m a bit baffled by how it measures up on geometry geeks compared to my Look 785 Huez RS.
The stack is 8mm higher on the 58cm Pfadfinder but the headtube is 20mm shorter? Is this just because the fork trail is longer and therefore though the headtube is shorter it ends up higher?
I don’t want steerer spacers unnecessarily, I run my Look785 with a slammed stem. Can’t tell if I’d be better off getting a 58 or a 60?

As non EU residents does this agreement mean we aren’t able to claim back German VAT if bought there?
-

This comes with a pre coffee warning.
Stack is measured from the BB right?
So BB height (perhaps better phrased as location) and angle of down tube are the factors… I think.
So I’d think 58. The purple is really nice!
As a side possibly good idea to by spare hanger and ports at point of purchase? -
• #209
I’ve been mulling this over, not sure it’s really true, you get BB and Chris King headset included. Most frame only you might get a headset but it’s usually a cheap one if so…

Might be worth checking the standover on your current bike for comparison. I got excited when a cheap CAADX looked to have very similar stack and reach as my road bike but several owners said the standover made it feel like a size bigger.

Slightly lower bb makes the head tube 5mm shorter on the standert. Most of that difference though would come from a longer fork axle to crown for the standert and an external lower headset cup.
External upper headset cup will add another 8mm on top, but likely lower than the headset cover on the look.

i have not studied in detail all their range but it seems to me that there is a discrepancy between their different framesets. erdgeschoss at 2200 for stainless steel? yes. 1000 for the cx aluminium stichsage, or umlaufbahn ? we are in M.a.s.h premium territory.
Not sure where pfadfinder sits as columbus tubes is a bit vague... but probably somewhere in betweenI don't deny that the art direction and appelaing graphics has a price, and they are doing it better than others.

Mason; Bokeh, alu, £1350. Exposure, steel £2,150. My Erdgeschoss stainless, was a little over £1900 I think. Or is the comparison to something else?
-

I have a Keissäge and an Umlaufbahn and I don’t regret buying them, but are they any better than lots of other cheaper frames? Sure I get more comments about them than an I’ve ever had on my spesh or Trek or anything other than the Surly, but that’s not enough for the extra £.
Well they are better finished, look better (imo) and ride much much better (imo again). Would I buy again? If the money was there then yes yes I would. The difference in price isn’t a lot really. When you go from ‘yeah’ to ‘YES’ -
• #215
Now i was comparing within the standert range and what i perceive has different premium scale. as i said surely the erdgeschoss appears a better deal than other options at 2199 + import.
It might be that the graphics + marketing extra takes a larger part on their more modest frames such as the alloy ones and pushes the rrp in a larger proportion. Not denying that Uk brands also bumped their prices in a puzzling way.
i'd definitly get a second hand standert.

Getting out of my area of expertise I'm afraid, the vat never gets charged on the stuff I'm importing.
I don't know how easy it is for an individual to claim back vat, must be possible though.

Sounds like you would get clarification from hmrc first plus minimum claim is £130

I bought the last 58cm Pfadfinder.
I want to go with electronic shifting and as Campagnolo eps disc groupsets are totally unaffordable I’m pondering going axs etap and then with two wheelsets, one 700c for road use and then 650(?) for off-road. Open to any suggestions re wheelsets - I’ve never owned a disc brake bike before.
Found some sram red axs groups (minus cassette, chain and chainset) for ~£1400 online. Is that good?

Looks great. Following this. Same boat as you, am totally sorted for rim brake road bike, but wanted another bike I can use off-road and in winter as a road with more clearance when conditions are shit. Also wanted road geometry. Have bought a surly midnight special frameset but never had discs, dunno what groupset to get, no idea what I’m doing. Picked up some 650b’s on here but prob also want some 700’s.
The surly, by the time you’ve bought a carbon fork and headset, the price difference between that and this isn’t enormous.
Intrigued to go 1x as something else I’ve not had, but wasn’t considering electronic.
Anyway, I won’t derail further. Enjoy. -

That’s maybe a bit steep. You’d be better off looking for individual parts in the sale. There’s an updated Red axs groupset coming fairly soon, discounts to be had I’m sure.
A lot of retailers had been selling Force axs bits reduced now that the updated group is out. That frame is so good looking. Standert are really knocking it out the the park in the art department.

What’s your budget for 700c wheels?
Start Fitness have 10% off codes atm. Good price on the Reserve 35 wheels with dt350 hubs. Lifetime crash replacement warranty is great, I’ve cracked my mtb rim a while ago and they sent a whole new wheel, no questions asked.
Would of bought one last year but import duty sucks.
