Back on tap chat, which brands make good bathroom taps? Traditional-looking ones, which sadly rules out Hansgrohe.
We bought a Hudson Reed tap, thinking it would be good quality - reasonably expensive, brass, 20 year guarantee - but it's crap. We had to take out a plastic flow thing which was sending the water off in all different directions, and the taps keep coming loose.
Lusso Stone Eton range looks good (but top end of price, and the bath taps are £700+), but which other brands are good quality?
Looking for a sub-£300, ideally sub-£200 single hole basin mixer, ideally with a matching freestanding bath mixer in case we can send that back too.

@tbc I got my kitchen from B&q of all places and it's really nice (you have the pictures I think already). I looked carefully at lots of different options and had a magnet kitchen in my last place but overall B&q were the best for quality v price. The next closest option to the one I ended up getting was 3k more from diy kitchens.

I hope you're going all the way then and using fake stone and a lovely wooden kitchen top plinth with some yankee candles and LLL sign.

Mount a TV on this?
Yes - go through the plasterboard and in to the brick. Requires long(er) fixings compared to going straight into masonry.
is there a way to make a channel for cable(s) in the plasterboard or am I better off with a trunking?
Yes - you can just slice out a channel in it (multi tool or similar), put yo' cables in, then back fill over the top. Put a tube in if you think you'll be putting more cables or changing cables later.
If you are really lucky, the dabs might be thick enough to leave a big enough cavity for cables run behind the board, but that's unlikely.

Thanks both, I did suspect I was being ambitious at that price point. I’ll look into those suggestions if you’ve been happy with them

We had a custom ply kitchen made on a single 5 figure income. It's worth getting some quotes

My wife picked a TV height I deemed in appropriate as it would have been touching the ceiling and given permanent neck pain to watch.
When installing the wall bracket, I accidentally fitted it at an appropriate height.

I spent ten years with my TV on a chimney breast. It was perfectly fine and made surround sound setup far easier

I'm amazed anyone gives that much of a shit about their home TV set up.
As long as the fucking wi-fi is working at the kids aren't screaming at me for DipDab it's all good IMHO.

plus in a victorian house what are the options? Block the bay, alcove or chimney breast .. chimney breast makes it easy to 'point furniture to' and doesent use any floor space.
Dont blame me, blame Queen Victoria I (RIP)

Your TV isn't hard wired?
I have no other option sadly, currently the TV is in the window bay, not ideal for the layout, its gotta me The Frame on chimney breast. I am very basic.
