Idk if here or the diy thread is best, but does anyone have a reco for a decreet fused spur. Natural inclination is to match to sockets, but if I can get something decreet enough I don't think it actually need to.
☑️ Unswitched
☑️ No cable hole
☑️ No light
☑️ No silly money
☑️ 25mm back box (have 30mm to play with, and really don't want to go deeper)
❔Primed/paintable?
❔Press fit?Any suggestions?
This knightsbrige one seems to be the front runner.
But I'm not sure if the flush mounted ones are actually more decreet with their outy fuses.
(I also don't want to spend £40 or whatever on it) -

Have a projector in the office/study, it’s great this time of year but useless for at least 6 months of the year.
First watch….

Don't try and flip the fact that you're shit at computer games around.

Because I'm an idiot I specced a bare spruce ceiling + beams in our kitchen extension. This means I have to paint it with intumescent varnish which is a total pain in the ass and also doesn't improve the wood visually. The manufacturer have told me I can use a water based varnish during the process to improve the finish. Osmo top oil is sort of what my mind jumped to, but obviously that's oil based. What can I use that's water based, not horrifically expensive, and will do what top oil would?

I would second the recent recommendation elsewhere for Wood Finishes Direct and their customer service team who should be able to advise you.
I think they like Mann's products, and I've used Mann's varnish and stains before with good results.

That's a great tip, looks like they have almost everything in existence so I'll call them tomorrow

Has building control told you you have to, or are you doing your own research? If you’re using private building control give them a call and double check.
IIRC big wood joists are weirdly more resistant to fire than steels.

I have protected timber panelling with a intumescent primer under osmo - cant remember spec off hand. The beams might be resistant enough (they char slowly before failure - is the theory) but surface spread of flame across the ceiling would be the issue i expect.

building control has told me via the builder. Perhaps it's worth calling building control directly as it'll be a shit (and expensive) job and any chance not to do it.
I'd at least like it to look good if it takes me 2 weekends, and the test bit I did looks fairly average

Booked carpenter for some work about 3 months ago - 2 weeks work, plus maybe a week waiting for materials. To date, paid 75% (50% deposit plus 25% second stage). Carcases installed (not beautifully tbh though my understanding is the messy fixings will be boxed in at the end). Doors and fill panels finally sprayed and delivered yesterday. He said he'd be here all day yesterday to install - turned up at 4, dropped doors off, left by 4:30. Said he'd be here all day today. Nothing yet. He's left about 15k of Festool gear here for a month (taking up a load of space) so it's not like he's off doing other jobs. My main gripe is being told repeatedly he'll be here at 8 so I'm getting out of bed earlier than I would want to just sit around waiting. Can't wait for this to be over.

What sort of projector is that? I've been looking at the very cheap ones on amazon at the moment...

Induction hob question
I quite like our Howden kitchen and they basically threw in the Lamona appliances for free.
However the Lamona induction hob is a bit feeble and wondered if there is a brand with a bit more grunt.

Just look for a few at kw ratings. I have a John Lewis branded AEG that has identical ratings on all 4 rings. I preferred that to having one insane ring and 2 underpowered

Would quite like one with "insane" setting, maybe accompanied by the lights dimming lol
Will check KW and AEG. :
Have looked at the supply and it seems to have its own circuit, does this mean an electrician has to fit a new one?

Ooo, a reason for dimmable smart lamps and whole house automation!

Mainly just about checking you have sufficient wiring in place (if your current hob plugs in you're probably out of luck) and then looking at the KW ratings. I spent a while looking at this stuff when I was buying mine and find the detailed specs on the manufacturer sites tend to be pretty informative.
I got this one which is 4 zones of pretty hefty power:
https://www.aeg.co.uk/kitchen/cooking/hobs/induction-hob/ike64450fb/
Performance
Left Front - Power/Diameter: 2300/3200W/180x210mm
Left Rear - Power/Diameter: 2300/3200W/180x210mm
Right Front - Power/Diameter: 2300/3200W/180x210mm
Right Rear - Power/Diameter: 2300/3200W/180x210mmor there is something like this where one has more power but some are weaker:

Performance
Left Front - Power/Diameter: 2300/3700W/210mm
Left Rear - Power/Diameter: 1800/2800W/180mm
Right Front - Power/Diameter: 1400/2500W/145mm
Right Rear - Power/Diameter: 2300/3200W/170x265mm -

Ohh, I'm liking the look of the second one, I'll see if Laura is happy with the appearance :). Thanks

Nebula Solar, about 400 quid and tbh I wouldn't go much cheaper as they'll likely be dim and low res.
Smart Projector, but it’s wack in the daytime and I plan on watching the majority of next year’s classics season at yours while hiding from my family. So your shit better be on point.
