4 pairs of dedicated ‘cycling’ shoes.
1x DHB with Velcro straps and have toe covers fitted pretty much year round. Mtb cleat. Use these for commuting, rides in wet/winter conditions etc.
1x DHB lace ups. Mtb cleat. Newer than the above shoes. Used only when it’s dry.
1x Gearne ratchets. Mtb cleat. Used to be used where the Velcro shoes are now when the Velcro shoes were used where the lace ups are now. Now pretty much just for doing rollers.
1x Shimano road. Just for track riding if/when I do that.
I also have bikes with flat pedals and I ride them in a variety of shoes but do not have any dedicated flat pedal cycling shoes.

Single pair for summer/spring/autumn
Another pair (SPD boots) for winter, keeps the water and the cold out, and when I get back I can hose it down without worrying about getting the inside wet.I use mtb (well, crankbro) cleats with road so that helps keep the count low.

Nice blue Diadoras that fit
Beautiful pearlescent and metallic Sidis that don't really fit, sadlyI switched to flats a few years ago and have barely worn cycling shoes since (all my shoes are cycling shoes).

Giro Empire VR90 black / green - beaters
Giro Empire VR90 ice blue reflective - when other are wet / night time rides
2x Giro Empire VR90 black / black - can’t resist all black and doubled up so I have another pair when the first ones wear out. -

Plus winter shoes and broken shoes so about 20 pairs. When you commute everyday you tend to swap about simply because you can .

I've got some MW5s, some other one Shimano ones and I think that is it.
Running shoes is a bit of a different story though

4 but I pretty much only use one pair. Shimano SPD touringy type ones from 2007, had them resoled and fixed by cobblers a couple of times - I do everything in them. But I commute on flats.

Nice
Back on subject - 6
Giro Empire - road shoes, stiff AF, almost too stiff for my liking but they're blue & reflective so I put up with it
Giro Apex - old road shoes, mostly found next to the turbo - fit like a glove, smell like the monkey house at the zoo.
Dromarti / Marresi tourers - lovely ebay bargain from about 10 years ago, soles try to peel off every couple of years but I glue the bastards back on because the leather uppers get comfier with age, every now & again I polish them to a mirror shine & wear them just to annoy one of my mates who thinks cycling shoes should be made of carbon & glitter & dials
Shimano mtb things for mtb / commuting
Old Shimano mtb things which are falling apart but will do in an emergency
Specialized spd pub trainer things that are fine for a few miles but good for walking in -

All,
Thanks a lot for your contributions to this thread. Some serious variances in shoe ownership.
So if I want a third pair of summer, 'never going to see a raindrop' shoes, that wouldn't be excessive?

nail-ons
What's going on here?
You're not talking about studs? -

MTB-
3 pairs of Five Ten
