Will SBC be working their magic on it once the parts arrive?

We’re getting closer
Position is quite funny really, no one would comment if I sprayed it translucent brown, threw some carbon wheels; Paul components on and called it a monè clunker
Mtb for people who don’t own a van innit
Will be comfortable tho

Looking good. I have some similar grips, they seem quite ergonomic.

Stooge motos are similar but a little wider and more sweep, 31.8, but the same price, also soma dream and those hunter bars, tumbleweed persuaders, all cost £60-80 tho,
I’m sure a bunch of ergo techs are similar, brand x trekking bar is a 3rd of the price but 25.4 and a little narrower, good bar

Try SJS cycles, they've got a pretty good selection of 'trekking' bars.
Edit: just looked, doesn't appear to be much stock of 31.8

I do like the look of the Motos, not sure I can justify the cost though. I just want to try something different to see if it makes my commuter a bit more comfortable. It'd be annoying to spend £60+ to find out it doesn't.
Sjs is a good call, there's a couple of options that might work on there.

planetx also have some cheap alt bar options

I might end up with some of the One One OG bars. I've got them on my work cargo bike and they're really comfortable. I am very tempted to spank £65 on the Stooges though. Maybe I'll have a clear out and see if I can rustle up the funds.

IMM SOOO CLOSEEEE,
Need cranks and gubbins for cables, then it’s all done!
Weight update: it feels lighter than most my bikes?
Considering it just has mech, chain and cranks (carbon) to go this might be lighter than the cross check lol.
Sorry but the “squishy forks are heavy” argument is moot if you’re using a steel fork, especially if you’re using an adventure fork. It really is negligible in the full build imo , compared to what you gain. Could offset that fork with non Wanker steel bars and a carbon post and lighter cassette
I’m squish pilled
I’m not usually a weight weenie but having ridden the homer around forests It really was too heavy to be enjoyable or even tolerable getting up steep off road climbs, and I did go into this wanting something a little lighter for unloaded riding and my little legs. So I’m pleasantly surprised how it’s turned out considering I’ve really not chased weight savings.
Might be more the fact the homer has an additional steel pipe, 730g rims, and a 1.5 kilo handle bar tho 😵💫😳😖, anything will seem featherweight!

I don't get the bars, you can get proper mtb bars in weight and width to suit on pink bike for £15

this is entirely funded by selling the pacer to its orginal owner due to her cross check being "dead and uninspiring"
Going up? Up. Going down. Down. Easy!
