I have always liked your cotic, it’s a good bike
I will be heeding your advice over the coming months, might have to sneak the boyfriends bike out a few more times to see if I want squish or just something slacker than the homer
-
• #2404
thanks
once you go front squish, you never go back (when riding off tarmac) -

Is it safe to step back into this thread yet?

If you want to try a nice bike on the cheap consider a Boardman Pro 29. The green and black one with Rebas. You can find them very cheap and they are great for the money. I had one for around 2 years with a shorter stem , wider bars and a dropper post.
How tall are you? -

consider a Boardman
Can we ban people anymore?

Ha. Why the hate?

Boardmans are great, even his highness Scoble had one

Tbh I rate the older mtbs, rebas, sram / avid everywhere, ritchey finishing kit.
but thats it.

sram / avid everywhere
This isn't helping the cause.

Everyone I have had has been great, they have all been pretty cheap second hand bikes but in good condition. Always great spec. I had the early red silver cx bike, I had the pro Hardtail (I will probably get another to destroy over winter) had an early 26inch team with the U-turn recons and the early 27.5 full suspension. I did crack the rear triangle on the full suspension though but a mate sorted me out a replacement.

SRAM is the best although I will agree Avid is junk. Eagle SX and NX can also go in the junk pile though.

Yo these are cheap? £600 would be good if it all worked
Don’t mind sram me
I’m 181cm but don’t let that fool you, really I need a 56 with the reach of a 53 and the stack of a 59

You will get a cheaper one than that it you keep looking. Think £400 to £450.
I'm 5ft 11 and large was ideal. Reach was pretty short with the shorter stem I put on. Loads of standover as well.
How about that Trek in the classifieds as well. I see you what you mean about reach on that but with a shorter stem and the saddle forwards you could lose the 4cm difference.

Needs to be shorter shorter,
What I’m basing my fit off is a m surly ogre with a 50mm stem and swept bars
I have bikes with a 57cm tt and I can only use proper sit up and beg bars on them for distance
With 56cm frames/ larger and short stems I can get them comfortable for 30-40 miles, but not back to back days / longer stuff
Have fibromyalgia so need to be pretty much upright and don’t have the strength to throw larger frames around due to heart disease
It’s why all my bikes look a little unconventional fit wise

There's another Kermit on Pinkbike for £500
Maybe with some high rise bars on there?

• #2423
its in Bridgewater so you can pay visit to SJS !
-
• #2424
Something like this would be ideal, shame they won’t ship,
I should be trying to make the homer work first!!!! Anyway!!!!!
Back in London now with the post tour glow, funny how when you get home the hills on your regular commute never feel nearly as steep as when you ride them every day

True, there's a lot of different bars out there to try
this is the goal
carries the kitchen sink and embodies an anti-consumerist ethos
yeah it's my bike, I don't care
