simply will pay £22 in brake pads for my wanker brakes, for it is a monument to my hubris

I think the Pacer season is my favourite so far (though I am enjoying them all) but this is a real standout episode of this one. It's the other side of the flat bar bike coin for me - if Oddo's Raleigh is sunshine on an island holiday, this is rolling around the city in the evening, darting about the busy roads. Evocative work

Very kind, thank you @stelfox!

I have ordered the pads for the xcheck, £32!!! Could have bought a set of shimano with pads for that
But alas
Kind of want a black xpack frame bag for it? Can’t seem to decide on one I like.
In other news I’ve got the white pompino back, going to try and build it for the partner and put grant from rivendells sizing method to the test
They’re four inches shorter than me but have the same PBH, some big sweepy lads on it should do the trick
If not I’ll have yet another piece of gaspipe in my house

It’s a good investment. Best pads I’ve used in a long time by far.

Have we reached the "same(ish) geo as a pacer, same clearance and brakes as the cross check but harder to by nice looking rims for" season yet?

i wanted one of these just after they stopped selling them - and at £500 it's very tempting, moreso as merle contacted me the other day to ask for the pacer back.
at least the deposit return from her will pay for a WW framebag for the xcheck and i no longer have to think about it getting new rims....or sorting that mysterious tick

Re 650b rim brake rims: I am very happy with my Pacenti Brevets which are currently available in 28h & 36h

I'd be really into this season

I think the fact that the pacer is immediately being returned unridden is going to be plot critical later on. There's no way they would invest all this time telling us about it then it gets killed off like that.

I am very tempted by this....
My CDF is going up for sale. Hmm

it's because it hasn't got riser bars. the low trail fork makes it good for carrying stuff....but also makes it very "chuckable"...combined with the smaller wheel? big.....bmx...........
i'd have a packrat over a xcheck, but im locked in now
-
• #2045
but im locked in now
no you're not, get the pack rat, transfer everything and get new wheels
this is not scientology to be locked in
-
• #2046
although some would argue that Surly is more of a cult than scientology

simply "rebuild the entire bike you just bought and is barely functional for a fractional shift in geo and a slightly smaller wheel diameter"
not even i'm sick enough to do this

• #2048
irl lol

rebuild the entire bike you just bought and is barely functional for a fractional shift in geo
Is that not this entire thread?

think of it as iterative development, like switching your handlebars but an order of magnitude up. if you spend a year thinking about this then do anyway what have you gained? what if another frameset in your size never ever becomes available again? You're not letting anyone down. we all just want you to have the assortment of similar but slightly different bikes that you deserve.
green low trail bikes ftw
and yes one must talk about rim brakes in past tense
