But he’s not putting out 600+W while providing a relatively large amount of draft for the riders behind.

Haven't seen it yet, but looking at the times it must have been amazing to behold -

That Italy finish was quite something, bad luck shouty crashy Danish fellow...

How do we get ourselves a Ganna?
Find a rower with narrow shoulders?Don't look at me! :)

Some good karma there.

All the horse events should fuck off to Crufts and let us watch some actual sport.

Katarina Jumpy-Throwy won't be doing any more jumpy-throwy

I'd imagine but being in the form of your life for an Olympic year, the Olympics being delayed by a year, and then getting injured, must be a super bitter pill to swallow.

Why show new events with young interesting competitors when you could be showing hours of geriatric sports for geriatric rich people?
Also annoyed by this Guardian article about how the viewers loved the bouldering which fails to acknowledge it wasn't actually shown in the UK?

Looks like a 'Guardian Australia' article.

I think the journalist for that article is writing for the Guardian Australia. Their coverage probably showed it.

• #1089
Yeah but it's mixed in with all the rest of the UK news. Salt in the wound when I read it this morning.

To provide a little salve, the eurosport commentary is so unlistenable, we turned off. Also, the camera work for the men's bouldering was equally unwatchable.
-
• #1091
Exactly this. GB even has a strong competitor in the woman’s climbing. Should we show the bouldering which is her specialty? Nah the horsey jumpy show is what the public want.
-
• #1092
That’s the quality of the Olympic Broadcast Service. It used to be that each of the major tv nations (UK, US etc) used to send a team to the olympics and each would be responsible for covering one event as the host country would not have the resources to cover everything. Now IOC want absolute control…
-
• #1093
Boo IOC. Would have at least thought you could bring some commentators on board for a week or two who actually know anything about the sport, but this doesn't seem to be a Eurosport requirement.
-
• #1094
Yeah it’s particularly annoying for climbing seeing as the normal pairing of Charlie boscoe and Ed Leigh are so good on the ifsc World Cup streams.

Show some deference, sonny - these are the sports your betters do.

BBC had Kirby commentating on the cycling, I specifically didn't buy a Eurosport subscription this year so I don't have to hear him and still can't escape.

Is there individual pursuit at the Olympics? Would love to see Ganna smash sub 4min in there
-
• #1098
No.
-
• #1100
Nope. It was dropped from the Olympic track cycling program after Beijing.
The BBC showing the horses AGAIN can just do one.
