Chainstay cracked on my beloved Standert so need a (hopefully temporary) replacement ASAP.
Looking for a 56cm/large racy road frameset. Disc or rim, I have parts for both. Budget up to around £500.
Stack and reach around 575 and 390 on the Standert.

Shit, what happened?

No idea, haven't crashed or anything. Had a bit of a creak so inspected and both sides are cracked where it's crimped, so looks like a manufacturing defect. Hopefully a warranty job.

Bummer . Just as the nicer weather is arriving as well.

I know! I'm going riding in the lake district week after next so the need for a replacement is quite pressing.
-
• #132
Oh shit. Are they replacing/repairing it?

My mate had the bottle cage bosses on his Standert break loose and fall into the frame. Standert were very helpful about it and ended up paying a LBS to fix the frame so my mate didn't have to send it back to Germany.
Tldr; they are very accommodating with their warranty

Yeah they have been great with techy stuff I asked for so I'm hopeful! That's really good to know too. Have put in a warranty claim but it's the weekend so might not hear for a while.
Need a temp bike in any case!

If you’re stuck I’ve got a Planet X carbon frameset which I think is a 56. Got it for the turbo and then picked up another frame so never actually built it up. PM me if it’s any help, only after a charity donation

nice frame. i always loved those, kinoko era... is it a 56 or 54 ?
-
• #143
looks like a 54 H2; I had one too, fucking amazing bike
-
• #144
56, H2. I'm making some progress with my flexibility so should be fully slammed on this. Glad to hear that it's good! What are the brakes like? I'm thinking of getting some jagwire elite link cables with the metal housing, though more because I have never used them and am curious than any worries about the braking.

The bontrager brakes were shit, I swiftly replaced with DA9000 and they were fucking amazing.
H2 are mad high, it will be higher than your standert.
At the BB brake just get this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173989172124?epid=1512646124&hash=item288290139c:g:JagAAOSwrsdeS67T There is no drastic bend; cable kinda goes straight under the BB but that noodle will make it easy to release brake etc without having to bend the outer all the time.
And cut the cables nicely (file them etc) and you're golden. Mine was Di2 so didnt really do gear cables.

Cheers, all good tips. I'll get some Shimano brakes then. Will the frame take a 28mm tyre?

Will the frame take a 28mm tyre?
oh yeah
9000/DA is unnecessary IMO; even the ultegra brake will be better than bontrager.
I miss that bike; replaced it with 54 H2 Emonda which was even better ;)

Good good. Found an ultegra front and rear set for £70 so all good there.

Carbon wheels for this or no? Specifically some Mavic Cosmic carbons a clubmate is selling.
Pros: Look cool, light, might make me imperceptibly faster
Cons: I weigh 90kg, I don't want to die riding down a hill in the Lakes, I could build some decent alloy wheels for less
I'm building some 650b wheels for the Standert. Looking for some interesting hubs before I just buy bitex.
Need 32h, 12mm front and rear, 11spd. Silver would be good but red, green, black or grey could work.
Thinking DT 350, Hope RS4, or something fancier if anyone has a good deal on CK, tune, WI etc.
Anyone got anything?
