  • I have very limited social media, so FB is not an option.

I may create an account over at the retrobike forum.

  • Rad , K2 still make inline skates and still have the same logo!

  • K2 used to be Pro-Flex right? Or they bought pro-flex...

  • I think k2 bought proflex, as proflex is later than the K2 comp range 1990 to 1996.

  • Went on a ride and had loads of fun.

It does need a shorter stem and a set back post though for a better fit.

  • Cool build. My first inline skates were k2s, they were quite popular back then. Don’t know anything about their bikes but the smooth welds remind me of Müsing frames - might be worth looking into.
P.s. please keep the cranks fcm730s are some of the prettiest cranks out there. There are cheap N/W rings available, too.

  • I'm yet to read through the whole thread, but first posts with Rapture made me miss mine like you wouldn't believe.

  • As I don't have a road bike, the transition has transitioned into a "road" bike with the help of some bar end shifties 2x10 set up.

It's okay, not fast, not THAT slow, gets me up places.

44cm bars are a no go, either need a 90mm stem or 40cm bars again.

  • Looks great. My fave bike of yours.

Those bars look nice as well.

  • All I need to do is sort the rear brake posts / pivots out, adorn the calipers, cable up and were good to go!

    Spacer stack subject to change.

Oh and decide on bar tape...obviously cloth but what colour

  • What the hell is is going on here?

Is this Ti + salmon jizz?

I have your bar tape mate!

  • You can have any of these three (there are sets of two of each colour) but I was thinking the top one would be the most fun.

  • Please send matching bar tape..

    NOS 2012 caad x.

Ideally the colour would have came out more "peach" than "salmon"... Internet colour grading did me wrong.

    I still like it though.

  • It's fun in a very wrong way 😜

  • Ooh, I think the middle green would go well, don't you?

  • Safe option yes. It's yours if you fancy

  • Current state of the Marin 1X1.

My most used and the most fun bike I own.

The bars (ergotec moon cruisers) are temporary as I wanted a change from the huge alu risers to something a little more swept back and my god are they comfy / still very fun.

Went from a 17t to a 18t in the rear with more clicks and louder sounds... Much cooler.

A little part of me wants it painted still but I like the patina.

  • So sick. I need to get off this forum, you lot convince me that I need a new, totally impractical bike every week.

  • A++ for mooncruisers and patina. Would look sick painted too!

Went on a ride this morning.

Left home at 7am got home around 1pm. It's nice to come back after riding and still have most the day! I should do that more often.

Was nice to miss all the traffic in the AM spin, as soon as 11am rolled around all the drivers took to the roads so the last legs was a bit naff. But the route was nice, rode past a few NT sites, saw loads of sheep / cows, rode some hills and some primo gravel in WRYE forest.

Bike is running really well, it's nice to ride a light capable bike for once. Trp cx9s put disc brakes to shame with their stopping power. Not much modulation though, but you get used to being light on the brakes.

I changed the poor rolling 37c pathfinders for 28c gp4s and I was glad I did, though they were were quick they were unforgiving...new tyres are definitely on the card - ultradynamico or SimWorks Volummy or the classic gravelking slicks depending on budget.

    Other things to do include:

Cut steere. Cut seatpost. New wheels. New bars. Sram force 2x10? (1x10 was more than fine today). Tubeless.

please don't mention the no bar tape (or non DS photo), I'm waiting for the @Hulsroy drop and I'm thinking of polishing up the bars to "match" the rest of the silver.

    Overall a great day.

  • I forgot. Sorry dude! I'll get it in the post Monday

  • Absolutely no rush! Good things come to those who wait :)

  • Some changed to my road bike:

35c gravel kings, changed the road bars for something 46cm wide and flared, polished the centre and added the bar tape Mads gave me.

CX bikes do really make good road bikes.

Only thing I need now is a new rear wheel to match the front.

Need to also touch up the paint on the forks and stem As they have chipped due to storage
