Loving the silver Marin in particular! How are you enjoying the All City?
-
• #413
The all city is lovely, very comfy and handles great.
Though both days I rode it the head winds and rain were terrible so that dimmed my experience I think... Looking forward to getting out in the nice weather on it.

Thoughts:
I think I really want to use a bar end shifter (duraace / XTR) 2x10 set up on the AC for quirkyness and I've wanted that kind of set up since seeing this:
It'll have low gearing, wide-ish bars, high stack, it'll be weighty but smooth etc, not meant for fast rides but chill rides kind of bike....It will get a dynamo front wheel at some point too.
Then im going to paint the Transition rapture frame+fork+stem to give it that new feeling, tidy some parts up and perhaps make it 1x11 or 2x10, fatish (32/35) tyres, update the wheels eventually and have this as my all road / cx fast(er) dry bike.
Colour undecided but maybe a burnt deep orange? Heavily inspired by this cause I love the mudfoot stinners etc:
Also inspired by this: @Hulsroy

What's the widest tyre you can fit in the Transition? I've got the same bike coming and wondering if I can fit the 42c Ultradynamico I've had given to me.

Biggest I have had in the rear is a 38 GK (slick version), I wouldnt go any bigger as it will rub.

Making some permanent changes to the single speed marin..
I'm going to single speed the frame, remove all gear cable guides, chop the mech hanger etc... For that cleaner look!
Both the frame and then kona p2s are going to get painted., colour tbc.
It's getting a new rear wheel, White indy eccentric hub on Ritchey vantage pro rim, sapim spokes. I do have a front rim to match, but no hub yet...
I also have a set of early 2000s blue rockshix sids to use when I go to trails. Which are light as anything and feel lovely.
I am just looking for a 18/19t WI freewheel now, if anyone has a lead.

In 2023 all bikes need to be painted a baby poo colour.

It's your bike but the effort that people put into puppy killing always astounds me.
And then invariably ending up with a worse looking biek.
To quote The Streets in succession this morning, leave it mate, it's not worth it. -

And then invariably ending up with a worse looking biek.
It'll look exactly the same as previous builds, just with a SS specific rear wheel and a new paint job! So therefore better, right?
Though the silver frame with orange forks are iconic tbf.
